New Gaplastovia, synonymous with the city-dominion of the Principality of Gaplastovia (only one city in the dominion), formerly known as Great Gapla City and Gapla City, is the capital city of the Federated States of Gapla. It also includes a part of the Princess Islands, the one-acre Princess Chelsea Island, but this is largely de jure and planned rather than in reality.
Located in the first territory of the Federated States of Gapla, the city had a population of 3 and an area of around 1,300 square feet. It was one of the least populated and smallest cities in the country, however, remained the capital seat due to its position as the home of the then-Sovereign Prince and symbolic importance. Due to this, some citizens consider Elemental City as the de facto capital city.
In its initial form, the city had three villages (Gataria, Downtown Gaplastovia, and Liberty Island), but due to a move, the entire city was relocated from its prior location. The current city is a village-city, meaning that the entire city has one village.
History
New Gaplastovia was first declared during the Principality of Gapla, because the United Republics of Gapla and Phoenix only claimed the secret base as its territory, not any residences. It was declared in order to find territory for the newborn Gaplan state and was declared the capital city as that was its only territory. After the events of Union Day, the Federated States of Gapla gained four new cities: Snakaris, Phoenix, Northern Emeralkia, and Southern Emeralkia.
While it has participated as a prize for some interstate sessions, New Gaplastovia is not largely involved in Gaplan politics and does not have a seat to the Chamber of Representatives. Due to this, it has been largely uninvolved in Gaplan history except for when it was taken over and when it was instituted as a capital.
Transfer to Elemental
After Elemental's victory in an interstate session, the city of New Gaplastovia was transferred as Elementalian territory.
However, New Gaplastovia is a special city and state laws do not apply to it. The Governor of Folia Tail, Renaldo Chang, a right-wing competitor of Chelsea, has expressed regret and opposition to New Gaplastovia becoming a city of Elemental.
Emersyo takeover
During the 2022 Emersyo coup attempt, the city of New Gaplastovia was captured by Emersyo forces.
After the Emersyo surrendered and their forces died down, New Gaplastovia was quickly returned to government control.
Pre-move status
New Gaplastovia was one of the smallest cities in Gapla by population and land area, but served as a symbolic capital and center of operations for the Federated States of Gapla. It was the residence of the then-Sovereign Prince (although not the President, who lives in Southern Emeralkia).
The city was often used to facilitate cash transactions for the Gaplan store.
Cession of Gaplastovia
In an event known as the Cession of Gaplastovia, due to a move, the city was dissolved on 22 July 2023 due to a move, and the city was ceded back to the United States.
On 20 August 2023, in an event known as the Return of Gaplastovia, the new territory of New Gaplastovia was ceded to the Federated States of Gapla from the United States.
