The 2021 House Hold federal election was held on 1 May 2021, to elect members of the Parliament of House Hold. A referendum on recognizing the Danish as an official language was scheduled to be held on the same day as the general election but was scheduled to be held on the same day but was suspended.

All 25 seats in the House of Representatives, and all 11 in the Senate were up for election. The 2021 election took place using STV, as a referendum on changing the voting system to Mixed-member Proportional had failed with only 50.0% vote and 3 rooms voting in favor in 2020.

The Incumbent Labor Government led by Prime Minister Fox Fox lost re-election to the Liberal Party led by Enia Hyena.[1] This election saw the lowest Labor vote share until the 2023 election. The election took place during the Covid-19 pandemic. The House Hold Electoral Commission (HHEC) abolished online voting and instead gave voters a chance to vote by mail and or at an early voting station so that social distancing could be maintained.

Background

The September 2020 general election was held after a three-month confidence and supply agreement between the governing Labor Party and the Shooters, Fishers, and Farmers. The September election saw the Labor party win a majority government going from 12 to 16 seats. The Shooters, Fishers, and Farmers lost their 2 seats in the House of Representatives. In late November 2020 the Communist Bird Workers Party announced that they would support the Labor government in a confidence and supply agreement to ensure the stability of the government since Labor had just had it's majority go from seven seats down to just three.

On 14 March 2021 BNN reported the Opposition Leader Enia Hyena was reported to have left the country just before Fox Fox announced the second Nation-wide stay-at-home order. Many reporters and citizens were outraged that she was not in the country during the lockdown.

In the week running up to election both Labor and the Liberals said they would not go into coalition.[2]

Primaries

Primary elections in House Hold took place three weeks before election day on Saturday 10 April 2021. The Labor primary resulted in big wins for the Progressives in the Party. However, do to the change to STV the election were void.
