Cambria, often abbreviated as CA and formerly known as the National Capital District, is a province of the Federal Commonwealth of Sirocco. As of February 2013 the province's population is 4, the entirety of which is located in the provincial capital, Alston.
Cambria is an important hub for many Siroccan affairs, from politics to culture and entertainment, and is also the residence of the Premier. Most of Sirocco's economic strength is generated in the province. Despite around 95% of the province being covered in forest or gardens it is well-developed with a variety of infrastructure. Most of the province abounds in natural splendour, mostly comprised of forests but also with numerous rivers, waterfalls and beaches. It is also regarded as one of Sirocco's best bird-watching locations, especially around the Alston Domain and Tent Pegs Forest.
History
The recorded history of Cambria began in 1987 with the acquisition of the land which is now Alston. At this stage Alston had not been officially founded, nevertheless major construction projects were undertaken, most notably roading projects, which included the construction of Cameron Road (part of the A1) and Wellesley Street (part of the A2).
Alston was officially founded on 4 November 2010 by Premier Daniel Anderson and was immediately proclaimed the national capital. The province was formed at the same time, initially bearing the name "National Capital District". Originally the province was much larger than it is today, as it also encompassed the then-Minnerichell, Ridgelow, Kent and Kenbank Zones, which were separated off into a separate province on November 18, 2010. In 2011 the province was enlarged twice, first on August 23 to encompass the towns of Rockport, Vista Cliffs, Port Ackland and Ballmore, then again on October 20 to encompass Sussex Cliffs, Ballance's Beach, Port Mayfair and Shelly Bay.
The National Capital District was renamed to Cambria on 20 February 2013 when the federal capital was moved from Alston to Havilland
