Jellicoe (JELL-ə-ko; Siroccan: Jeliče), is a province of the Federal Commonwealth of Sirocco. Geographically the smallest Siroccan province (consisting solely of its capital, Ridgelow), it is also one of the oldest, dating back to November 2010 when it was split from the National Capital District to comprise its own province. While today the province is much smaller than it once was, it still maintains its status as one of Sirocco's most important provinces. Jellicoe is a major centre of activity within Sirocco and is the meeting place for many affairs of state, with activity primarily taking place in Ridgelow.
History
Jellicoe was formed on November 18, 2010, after Ridgelow, Minnerichell, Kenbank and Kent Zones were granted the right to their own province after previously being part of the National Capital District. The reason for this was that Premier Daniel Anderson believed that the National Capital District should focus on the immediate area around Alston instead of being located in various areas around Northland. On December 7 of that year, Jellicoe expanded to include Riverhill Park, which replaced Ridgelow as provincial capital. A few weeks later, Jellicoe expanded again to include the Castor and Cowan Islands, further north of the bulk lands of the province.
Jellicoe was split up on April 20, 2011, with the creation of Trafalgar, Falkirk, Denbigh and Bolton provinces. Jellicoe was retained, but only as land surrounding Ridgelow.
Ridgelow
Ridgelow was the original capital of Jellicoe and is the current residence of Vice-Premier and Minister of Transport Jesse Coles. It is a mostly urbanised centre with very little parkland. It is a very small establishment within Sirocco but serves as an important hub for affairs of state and province. It served as provincial capital from November 18 to December 7, 2010 and again from April 20, 2011.
