The Principality of Cristus (Serbian: Кнежевина Криста, Kneževina Krista) is a micronation located in terra nullius between Serbia and Croatia. It is currently a dominion (a constituent part) of the Federated States of Gapla.

History

Cristus was founded as a primarily Christian micronation and as a monarchy. It was founded by Prince Holdsworth I. The Principality of Cristus traces its origins to 24 September 2023 when it was founded by Holdsworth I. Emerging with a distinct identity, Cristus initially laid claim to Zverinjak, asserting its sovereignty over the territory. However, as geopolitical dynamics evolved, Cristus eventually integrated into the microstate of Gapla.

This marked a major moment in Cristus's history, aligning it with a broader political entity while maintaining its identity within the larger framework of Gapla. The integration of Cristus into Gapla was initially met with resistance from the An Reilistes under George Celenic, who published an article from the Vanguard, though his claims were later fact checked by a Gaplan dossier.

Government

The government of Cristus combines elements of monarchism, right-wing principles, and democracy. Cristus uses a monarchist framework that prioritizes the stability and tradition associated with a hereditary ruler. The ideology leans towards the right on the political spectrum, emphasizing individual liberties, free-market capitalism, and a conservative social order.

However, Cristus incorporates democratic values, particularly in the form of representative governance and periodic voting. While maintaining a monarchist structure, Cristus acknowledges the importance of public participation and allows citizens to exercise their democratic rights through voting.

In late October 2023, the then-Minister of Foreign Affairs Wyatt Baek of the Gapla formally extended an invitation to Cristus, realizing the notion of a mutually advantageous merger. Baek identified an opportunity to cultivate a future that benefited both sides.

Cristus engaged in thoughtful deliberation on the proposition, negotiations culminated in the formal merger of Cristus into Gapla. This diplomatic triumph not only preemptively averted potential conflicts but also established an framework for bilateral cooperation, spotlighting shared objectives and a collective commitment. Due to the merger, Cristus has gained a new territory of 30.2 acres, as its old territory was claimed by Serbia and therefore not terra nullius.

Geography

Cristus's geography is moist due to it being near a river, the region is macronationally close to Apatin. The region has a temperature peak during the summer and experiences cold and wet weather in the fall and winter. Cloud cover peaks during early and mid spring as well as late fall and winter.
