Baustralia (/bəˈstrliə, ɒ-/ (listen), or in full, the Kingdom of Baustralia) is a landlocked micronation with minor creeks running through which account for 7% of its superficial area. It claims sovereignty over land claims in Canada and minor claims in the United States. It is the head of the Baustralian Empire, governing over three states claimed as a result of the Baustralian Conquest. Its first and current reigning monarch is John.

Etymology

The name of Baustralia came about when John and Lord John Timpson were imagining a country of naval prowess similar to Australia in topography and climate. Due to these similarities, a 'B' was added.

For the name of Australia, it is derived from the Latin australis, meaning "southern", and inspired by the hypothetical Terra Australis of pre-modern geography.[1]

History

The idea for the formation of Baustralia came to mind when the King John was doing a geography project on types of governments. Upon researching, John stumbled upon Sealand, and Molossia. After careful thought and planning came the formation.

A week after formation, Cold Creek, the province that contains the capital, had a coup d'état and was settled by a treaty to allow separation, this done in the best interests of the Baustralians. This coup caused the capital to move from Cold Creek to Cascadia.

Then, the king and Lord John Timpson started work on the constitution, and upon royal approval, the Kingdom became a constitutional monarchy, based upon the likes of the United Kingdom. The kingdom is now 7 years, 5 months and 5 days old.

Baustralian Conquest

Seen as a threat by neighbouring countries, multiple wars were fought against the Kingdom. Most countries ended up being underpowered, causing Baustralia to annex the land. This group of battles was nicknamed the Baustralian Conquest and later was made official.

The country annexed 9 hectares of land from Canada, to create two federal districts: Holderton County (6 hectares), and HM's District (3 hectares). On 3 July 2017, 23:45 EDT, a treaty to annex Flavora was signed and was created a province under the same name (14 hectares). More annexing happened, after hiring some persons to become ministers of the government, which required the King to annex them into Baustralia so they become citizens. This caused a huge area boost from around 30 hectares to about 80 hectares, an area boost of 167%.

The Battle of Tentacion Creek was the only loss of the Baustralian Conquest, as they had failed to keep them as a province, and ended up as their own country which later joined the Empire.

Baustralian Civil War

On 22 April 2020, four members of Parliament, Prime Minister Sir Nick Sullivan, Secretary for the Environment Mecca Thompson, Secretary for the Economy Reagan Greenson, Secretary for Edstmae Ella Parker, and one Lord of Parliament, the Duke of London, all defected from the Parliament of Baustralia. They conspired to commit mutiny against the Baustralian crown, and after a trial for this, they declared civil war on the Crown in an attempt to conquer the throne of Baustralia.

The government is a constitutional monarchy, with a bicameral government. The upper house, the House of Lords, consists of the speaker, and all peers of Baustralia. The lower house, House of Commons, consists of the Cabinet Ministers and a speaker. Sometimes, the prime minister will join as Member of Parliament for Jackson or Lord High Treasurer.

The current government, the Sriraya ministry is chaired by the Lord Ananttej of Pragjyotishpura, co-leader of the New Horizon Party. The party holds a minority of seats in the House of Commons elected through first-past-the-post voting with 9 seats.

Law and order

All citizens are subject to Canadian law, as well as the Criminal Code of Baustralia, a compilation of law-based acts. Multiple crimes have been recorded in Baustralia.

On 7 January 2018, John was discussing a deal with the queen of Flavora, when the queen of Edstmae commenced to listen. Considered espionage, he quickly arrested her, and sentenced her to one hour without slime, see Rex v. Katelynn of Wabasso. Once again, the Princess of Wabasso committed treason and was sentenced eight hours without slime.

On 15 January 2018, John lead HRNRS Baustralia ashore in Canada as Commander. In Canada, Timpson believed he was no longer under His Majesty's command. Then, when the King told him to protect him, he didn't. This enraged John, charging him with insubordination.

On 6 April 2019, Aidan McGrath had set Baustralia up to be destroyed by the Kapresh government, Quebec government and the Ikonian crown. This was revealed after the treaty of Charriot'sville was signed.

On 22 April 2020, after discussing what laws had to be modified in order to bind the King of Baustralia by law in accordance with the Monarchy (Immunity) Act. After seeing that the Act stated that laws had to be modified to explicitly state they bound the King, the Underground Alliance, the party of four and the defendants, tried to try him for criminal mischief. After they were made aware that treason was not yet a charge that bound the King, they uprose and declared a rebellion along with the Viscount Parker. After a very short trial, Lord Jenkinson decided that Thompson as head of the rebellion, Parker, and Sullivan would all be charged with high treason and styled 'The Horrible', while the other two would be charged with treason. The five were also charged with conspiring to commit mutiny.

National symbols

National Arms

The absolute monarchy had passed two symbols to be used. The first being the flag, which is still used today. The second is the original coat of arms. It has been changed multiple times and is now set to be the longest used armorial achievement used by the Government.

Great Seal

The Great Seal of Baustralia.

After the Baustralian government was formed, the government designed a seal to be used with letters-patent and letters-close. it has had two iterations since its birth, and though it has been designed, it has not been manufactured.

Foreign relations

Baustralia has very few diplomatic ties to other micronations.

It used to a member state of the Economic Union of States, among 5 other states, before quitting due to the satirical, and false information said by members, and head of the union. Also, it used the head of the United Micronational Organization in favor of War (UMOW), with one member state, Tentacion, before it was rebranded into the Baustralian Commonwealth, and subsequently the Baustralian Empire.

The relationship between Edstmae, and Baustralia, was tense at some points because Renessmae of Edstmae was once a princess of Baustralia. Also, she was removed from the family after she spied on a monarchical meeting between John, and the Queen of Flavora. Relations are becoming less tense though, and a deal to release Renessmae's room from the territory and incorporate it into Edstmae was passed. This territory was re-annexed after Renessmae abdicated, and John inherited the throne.

March 2018, Baustralia was part of a group called the Economic Union of States, but later left due to an increasing amount of satirical and embellished content by other members.

February 2019, Baustralia applied to join the Grand Unified Micronational, and was voted as a provisional member with a vote of 4-2-3 (for, against, abstain), but full membership was voted against with a vote of 5-6-1, thereby expelling Baustralia from the GUM.[2] Provisional membership was later reinstated. A court case from the Kingdom of Quebec and the Kingdom of Ikonia, Quebec et al. v. Baustralia was served in the GUM but all charges were dismissed.[3] Baustralia was later expelled from the GUM through a vote of 7-3-4.[3]

In June 2019, Baustralia had rocky relations with the Kingdom of Eureka because of the defection of Patrick Garofano. They were at a state of war with Eureka[4][5] and Rmhoania.[6] After the treaty of Brighton was signed, Eureka had switched sides.

In June 2019, the territory of Northumbria was ceded from the Gradonian province of New Hesse.

Baustralia dissolved the League of Nations on 3 October 2019.

Military

The military is operated by the Baustralian Armed Forces (BAF) and has three branches, His Royal Navy, Baustralian Army and His Royal Air Force. The military may also be aided by the Canadian Armed Forces, the United States Armed Forces, and the Australian Defence Force. It is headed by the Commander in Chief and Lord High Admiral, King John, and commanded by the Defence Council of Baustralia.

The current Commander-in-Chief and Lord High Admiral is Admiral of the Fleet John, and the Chief of the Defence Staff is Admiral of the Fleet Lord Wooler. The Baustralian chief petty officer is Warrant officer Christina Nowell.

His Royal Navy

His Royal Navy consists of HMS Promise. Command is done through the Admiralty board, and issues orders through the Admiralty Orders. The Admiralty is a board that consists of the Lord High Admiral, First Sea Lord, Second Sea Lord, and the Fleet Chief Petty Officer.

The current First Sea Lord and Chief of the Naval Staff is Admiral Lord Mayjames, and the Second Sea Lord and Deputy Chief of the Naval Staff is Vice admiral Marchioness of Flavora. The Fleet chief petty officer is Warrant officer Micheal Taggart.

Baustralian Army

Similar to His Royal Navy, the Baustralian Army's command is done through the War Board and issues orders through the War Orders. The War Board is a board that consists of the Commander in Chief, the Chief of the General Staff and the Army Sergeant Major. The Baustralian Army has two divisions, the 1 Infantry Division - made of the King's Grenadiers, the Royal Rifles, the Royal Baustralian Regiment - and 2 Cavalry Division, made of the Baustralian Dragoons and Parker Regiment.

The current Chief of the General Staff is General Lady Emily Day, and the Deputy Chief of the General Staff is Lieutenant general Lord Wright. The Army sergeant major is Warrant officer A.R. Rashotte.

Geography and climate

The territory is mainly flat. It is comprised of 7 counties and boasts a total area of just below 3 kilometres. Primarily surrounded by Canada, it has the majority of its land in the Saint Lawrence Lowlands, Canadian shield and Interior Plains. New Texas is the only territory remaining outside of Canada.

Territory

Towerhill Farm in Wabasso, Mild Pond, before the foundation of Baustralia

Originally consisting of what is now Mild Pond and the colony of Ostreum, Baustralia has six counties, which are in turn divided into municipalities and subdivided into regions. There are twelve municipalities. From 2017 to 2021, Baustralia was divided up into provinces, and numbered 13 at its peak. The highest tier of "local government", counties, consists of Holderton, Landspotter, Mild Pond, New Texas, Pittsburgh, and Vienna.

History

When Cold Creek separated, the only territory that remained was Mild Pond, then the house of His Majesty was claimed to become His Majesty's District. The Prime Minister then offered his house which became Holderton County. Then the area behind His Majesty's District, which at the time was a creek with a forest, so it was named Forest Creek, and to even out the area, a 1 ha area from Norfolk Island was annexed. The next territory was annexed when Flavora was ceded to Baustralia.

Later, John annexed a 0.11-hectare island to become Landspotter, a 0.4-hectare plot of land owned by the Minister of Foreign Affairs to become Wooler, a 0.27 ha area of land owned by the Minister of National Defence to become Greystone County, and a 0.01 ha house, a 0.05 ha house in Quinte West called O'Neil, and a 0.02 ha house in New Braunfels, TX, USA to become New Texas, adding a total of 0.81 hectares of land to Baustralia. Later a 3 m2 room was combined with Flavora to create the Shared Territory of Independent Flavora and Baustralia in exchange for a larger room in the Kingdom of Flavora, which measures 0.03 hectares. It has since been returned. The ex-Minister of Revenue had also given her territory to become Trenton.

In November 2018, the Province of London separated as part of the Rmhoanian referendum.[7]

On 2 June 2023, the Couleuvres Bill was signed to grant land to the Empire of Kapreburg, made up of a former communion with Baustralia and the Republic of Quebec.

Transport

Baustralia maintains a route network in the Kingdom and her colonies, which consists of 58 highways, and 26 colonial roads. Baustralian Highways are maintained by the Routes Office, and Colonial Roads by the Maintenance Office. The current Secretaries of State are Lady Ella Parker, and William Perks, respectively.

These routes can be macronational roads, dirt trails and paths, and grass throughfares. The definition of the latter can be broad, and can be difficult to know whether one is actually on the route. While Canadian MUTCD-style signs are assigned for use, and highway markers have been designed, no signs have actually been posted.

Economy

ᛒ20·00 BUB note
