The Lord High Admiral (Ld H Adm; French: Grand amiral) is the titular head, and most senior officer of His Royal Navy. Lord High Admiral is now, by custom, vested in the sovereign, presently John. By military protocol, the title used in international contexts is Lord High Admiral of Baustralia.
The role of a Commander-in-Chief is to oversee the navy, appoint officers, as well as visits with troops, and as a naval officer, sometimes stations himself on ships.
