Prince Henrique of Marienbourg (Belo Horizonte, Brazil, 1 March 2009) is a Prince of Marienbourg and member of the House of Bruyn-Carvalho. He is the only son of Prince Carlos of Marienbourg and his wife, the Brazilian haidresser Renata Viana, and a second cousin of Duke Arthur V. Although the Marienbourgish monarchy is elective, not hereditary, Henrique is widely considered to be the second in the unofficial line of succession to the throne, after his first cousins, princes Pedro and Anna.

Biography

Early life and education

Prince Henrique was born in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. He is the only son of Prince Carlos of Marienbourg to his wife Renata Viana, an autonomous hairdresser. His father is the son of Princess Diva, a younger sister of Maria III of Marienbourg, the maternal grandmother of Arthur van der Bruyn, King of Ebenthal and Duke of Marienbourg, which makes Henrique and Arthur, therefore, second cousins. He was baptized and raised in the Catholic Church and is currently part of the youth choir of the São Mateus Parish in Sion, Belo Horizonte. His cousins, Prince William and Princess Claudia, are his godparents.

Through his father, Henrique is a member of the Carvalho family, an ancient family of Portuguese origin that dates back to the 12th century. However, as Prince of Marienbourg, Henrique was incorporated into the so-called House of Bruyn-Carvalho, a cadet branch of the House of Bruyn born through an agreement between his great-uncles Anthony and Edison Carvalho and her cousin Arthur van der Bruyn, by which Arthur, who is a Bruyn, became sovereign of Marienbourg and the Carvalho family, that of his mother, became his heirs.

As of 2024, Henrique is enrolled at the private technical school Escola Técnica Conhecer, in the first year of high school, in the electronics course. He also takes English courses at the Japanese education network Kumon.
