The flag of Marienbourg (Portuguese: bandeira de Marienburgo) is a horizontal tricolor of bright orange, white and bright blue. It was officially adopted on 9 January 2023, the same day that Marienbourg proclaimed its independence from Brazil. Its concept was heavily inspired by the flag of Luxembourg, originally a duchy like Marienbourg, with the replacement of the red color with bright orange, making it almost identical to the historic flag of the Prince of Orange except for the proportions.

The flag was envisioned by Arthur van der Bruyn. The orange represents Marienbourg's orange plantations, which are the country's main export product; symbolically represents their riches. White represents the peace and purity that are the main stated goals of the state of Marienbourg. The blue represents the thermal waters of Poços de Caldas, a Brazilian city in which the duchy is enclaved.

Description

The national flag of Marienbourg is a tricolour flag. The horizontal fesses are bands of equal size in the colours from top to bottom, orange (officially described as "bright orange"), white and blue (Azure). The flag proportions (width:length) are 3:5. The color parameters were defined by the constitution in as the following:

In this definition, the colors are defined using CIE-1931 colour space and Standard illuminant C at a 45° angle. The Marienbourgish flag is almost identical to the flag of the Prince of Orange, except for its shorter proportions.

Symbolism

Each band of color in the Marienbourgish flag holds some symbolism for the country. The orange band represents the orange plantations of Pomerade, considered a national symbol (the orange tree is the national tree) as they are the main export product of Marienbourg and therefore the main source of income for the country's resident citizens and, thus to the state. Symbolically, albeit indirectly, the orange band therefore represents the country's riches. The white band is the only one that does not have a tangible representation, being inherently symbolic, representing peace and purity, constitutionally established desires as the main objectives to be maintained by the existence of Marienbourg. The blue band represents the thermal waters for which the Brazilian city of Poços de Caldas, historic predecessor of Marienbourg, and in which the duchy is entirely enclaved, is famous. Symbolically, it represents the origins and history of Marienbourg.
