Commonly styled Dearest Comrade, among numerous other titles, Hakimoto exercises absolute rule over Yurtyzstan.
Career
Republic of CDR
J.J. Hakimoto was first exposed to micronationalism during elementary school, when he discovered Molossia. With two others, Hakimoto founded the Republic of CDR in 2007. Hakimoto led the micronation's theoretical legislature as vice president. Also a charismatic military leader, Hakimoto led militant expansion across the property of the school where the three attended, and also founded the Atom Agency, which vandalised Wikipedia and researched alternative weaponry. Months after its founding, the Republic of CDR collapsed.
Crimsonia
Several months later, Hakimoto became a citizen of Crimsonia. The micronation was founded by Sultan Lox I in 2008 as the Forest Free State. Hakimoto soon joined, and rose to become chief adviser to the Sultan, despite being an opposition activist supporting democracy. He was also a close adviser to later Sultans Lox II and Nemo.
The fourth Sultan, Finly, like Hakimoto, was a strong supporter of democracy. His rise to power was the result of a coup d'état, which unseated the House Poisson-Rouge; Finly was the first Sultan from the rival House Siam. (Both houses still exist in successor state Yurtyzstan today, though neither House has any living members or holds political power.) As a result of this support for democracy, Finly made Crimsonia a Republic on December 28, 2008, making himself Premier. Days later, Finly abdicated to Hakimoto.
This was J.J. Hakimoto's first absolute leadership position in a micronation. He reformed Crimsonia into a Socialist Republic, instituting populist, left-wing policies. Despite Hakimoto's efforts to unify and improve Crimsonia, a civil war broke out on January 4, 2009, when the Capitalist Free State of Alta Crimsonia was established across the river in Ville-Haute. Hakimoto's violent suppression of the rebellion made him unpopular and accelerated Crimsonia's steady decline.
On May 6, 2010, Hakimoto declared Crimsonia a Noocratic Despotism, though Finly and several other advisers strongly opposed such totalitarian measures. Several days later, Hakimoto stepped down and dissolved the Noocratic Despotism of Crimsonia; an eruption of anarchy and various splinter factions resulted. Hakimoto and Finly fled, forming Yurtyzstan several months later.
Yurtyzstan
Around September 2010, various individuals began to plan a revolution from the United States. Hakimoto quickly rose to power within the ranks of the loose revolutionary front, having several years of previous micronational experience. Hakimoto was largely responsible for the organisation of the Yurtyzstani Revolution, and named himself Supreme Potentate on September 22, 2010, the date the independent Democratic People's Republic of Yurtyzstan was declared. He named Felix Yurtzhinsky as the Despot, having developed a close relationship with Yurtzhinsky.
Yurtyzstan became inactive thereafter and activity did not rebound until February 2011, when construction of the capital city, Yurtpyitaw, and organised a strict communist regime based primarily on the government and culture of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. Discussion of sex became culturally unacceptable, and capitalism and the Western world were only permitted to be mentioned with disparagement. By March, Hakimoto had established a strong military and named himself Generalissimus, its highest rank.
On March 17, 2011, the Yurtyzstan-Longhouse War broke out after the 1st Invasion of Yurtpyitaw, in which Longhouse Kingdom forces directed by Sultan Paul J.G.R. McLenistar sacked Yurtpyitaw. The following day, the 1st and 2nd Battles of Yurtpyitaw were fought, resulting in decisive Yurtyzstani victory but also in the further destruction of Yurtpyitaw. Some minor battles were fought a week later, one resulting in a Yurtyzstani defeat and the Longhousian advance into Yurtpyitaw. The city was sieged for 21 days, after which the Yurtyzstani forces then sieged Algonquin Town, resulting in a decisive Yurtyzstani victory. Hakimoto was present for all of the battles, directing Yurtyzstani forces.
Hakimoto declared emergency powers on May 6, 2011, following the split of the Longhouse Kingdom, departure of Felix Yurtzhinsky to form a government-in-exile against him, and the collapse of the Yurtyzstani economy. During this time, Yurtyzstanis frequently crossed the border to the Yurtzhinsky-led East Longhouse Kingdom for food and money, several defecting; literature dissenting against Hakimoto and communism was also circulated. Hakimoto, meanwhile, formulated plans for economic reform and recovery.
In August, Hakimoto began to assert power over the Yurtyzstani people again; he urged Yurtyzstanis to cease dissent and border-crossing, and made several arrests. However, Hakimoto also relaxed restrictions on the public markets (jangmadang) in order to allow economic growth. As the economy slowly recovered, expeditions into the former territory of Crimsonia took place, and a summer capital was established at Hakimoto City on the banks of the George Takei River.
On September 22, 2011, the first anniversary of Yurtyzstan's independence, Yurtyzstan joined the Nemkhav Federation. Hakimoto rose to become a prominent Nemkhav politician, and currently holds the offices of Supreme Judge, Minister for Propaganda, and Minister for Foreign Affairs.
On December 3, 2011, Hakimoto organised the nation's first multi-party elections. Hakimoto was elected Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly and subsequently appointed Chairman of the National Defence Commission. For the first time in the nation's history, all legal political parties held seats in the Assembly.
Hakimoto has continued democratic reforms, dissolving the National Defence Commission to shift power to the Supreme People's Assembly.
