The Democratic Republic of Seybold (/ˈseybold/ sea-bold) was a micronation founded on 8 September 2018 by Current President Cooper Norfolk’s Florida Bedroom. He Declared Independence from the United States of America to attempt a realistic nation in a small area and to strengthen the Secessionist Movement in micronationalism.

The Democratic Republic of Seybold is located near the smaller micronation territory of Republic of Tamcoop and the inactive micronation Fort Dunkin. Seybold is a representative democracy with Cooper Norfolk as the head of state and President. The population of Seybold is 16 (humans), however it has two animal citizens, which are not necessarily counted as official citizens. The capital is New Springfield and the largest city is Woodlelands City, by population and size. Seybold has two official languages English and Russian along with an unofficial language, Esperanto.

Seybold became a member of Accentra on 24 February 2019 with Cooper Norfolk as the unofficial Ambassador representing Seybold in Accentra, the New Eiffel Union of Micronations on 25 November 2018, and an observer state of the GUM on 8 December 2018. Seybold was formerly a part of the Florida Micronational Union and the Union of Southern Micronations before they became defunct.

Seybold has two subdivisions that are in the mainland of the Democratic Republic of Seybold. The largest of the subdivisions, by population and size, is the Province of New Woodlelands with a population of 12 and the smallest is the Federal District of New Springfield with a population of 6.

The Democratic Republic of Seybold scores a 4.00 on the Matthew's Democracy System of classification, as of 18 October 2018.

Etymology

The area that the Democratic Republic of Seybold is located near is known as the Larger Seybold Area, Florida.

History

Tamcoopese Era

Sometime during 2017, the area that currently is the Democratic Republic of Seybold joined the Republic of Tamcoop with the rest of the Province of Jasooper. Democratic Republic of Seybold was originally a part-time home to the former Vice President Cooper Norfolk, who eventually went on to found the Democratic Republic of Seybold, and the town of Doubledin. But peace only lasted for a while, as the Tamcoopese Provincial System, a system on the Tamcoop Government Private Computer that keeps the Provinces under control of Tamcoop was hacked into by Anti- Tamcoopese Citizen Ryan Funk. This meant that all provinces of the Republic of Tamcoop, excluding the provinces in the mainland and the Province of Fort Cusin due to the fact that they were on another computer, were ceded back to the United States.

Jasoopese Era

In all of the Chaos, then Vice President Cooper Norfolk resigned his position and went on to found the Democratic Kingdom of Jasooper on 23 April 2018, in which Democratic Republic of Seybold is located in. The Town name stayed the same but was home to Cooper Norfolk, King of Jasooper at the time, and Corrupt Politician Max White, who was later banned from Jasooper.

Springfield Era

The Federal District of Springfield was a part of the Republic of Iustus, joining 27 March 2018. It was at first just the bottom part of Democratic Republic of Seybold, but it was expanded to the upper part and the surrounded lands known as the town of Rugtopia at that point. The Federal District of Springfield sadly ended due to unknown reasons.

2018

On 8 September 2018, now President Cooper Norfolk finished the Constitution of the Democratic Republic of Seybold by signing it in New Springfield, the Capital of the Democratic Republic of Seybold. Cooper Norfolk then wrote up the short Seyboldish Declaration of Independence and signed it in the same city. He mailed the Seyboldish Declaration of Independence to the United States of America Capital Building at around 9 A.M. UTC-5. On 16 September 2018, the 2018 High Election, in which the President is elected, occurred. Soon after the debate, the citizens of the Democratic Republic of Seybold, which was only 1 at the time, voted. The voting session lasted for 57 minutes, until 11 A.M. when the results came out. There was 100% voter turnout and 100% of the votes went to President Cooper Norfolk. He was sworn in as President at 5:34 P.M. on the same day. On 16 September, 2018, President Cooper Norfolk was sworn in as President of the Democratic Republic of Seybold. The days of 17 September, 2018 through 23 September, 2018 were his first week of Presidency. The first thing that he did was create a national digital newspaper called the Seybold Today along with creating the Seybold Postal Service, or just SPS, the Department of Immigration and the Department of Construction. President Cooper Norfolk also created the designs of the Seyboldish Florin, the currency of the Democratic Republic of Seybold.

In 2018, the Democratic Republic of Seybold saw a rise in military presence in the micronation. This started with the foundation of the Seybold Reserve, which currently has three registered members. The military body currently has not fought any conflicts, as the Democratic Republic of Seybold is a pacifist country. On 3 November, 2018, President Cooper Norfolk had the idea of a Weather Service for Seybold. Cooper Norfolk did not want this service to be controlled by the Government. So, he created the first ever Independent Agency in the Democratic Republic of Seybold, the Seybold Weather Service, also known as the SWS. The Seybold Weather Service is now an Independent Agency in Seybold that is dedicated to giving the citizens of Seybold the daily weather alerts. The Seybold Weather Service currently still operates in the Federal District of New Springfield.

There was more economic development in Seybold during 2018 with the creation of the Seybold Department of Tourism and the first ever Tourist attraction of the Democratic Republic of Seybold. The tourist attraction contains a globe that has the micronations that Seybold recognizes on it. This tourist attraction is called the “Seybold World Map”. The globe was given to President Cooper Norfolk as a gift a couple of years ago. He gave the globe to the Seybold Department of Tourism to build this tourist attraction in the Province of New Woodlelands. In 2018, the first residential building in Seybold, which is a small, elevated house in New Springfield, the Federal District of New Springfield, was created in 2018 by President Cooper Norfolk. The residential property is just an apartment style building that takes up almost half of the top bunk bed that is in the Federal District of New Springfield. It is exactly 0.9797 square meters with two rooms, one the main area and the other the “bedroom” like area, which is just a pillow. On 1 December 2018, the Seybold Department of The Census asked all citizens of the Democratic Republic of Seybold multiple simple questions to compile the first ever Census of the Democratic Republic of Seybold. This Census was one month late due to technical issues, as it was supposed to occur on November 1st, but it was delayed until 1 December. All eight citizens were asked about their name, age, religion, race, sex, languages are spoken, species, and employment or unemployment. Eight Census papers’ were turned in, meaning there are exactly eight citizens of the Democratic Republic of Seybold. The Census papers proved that the majority age of the Democratic Republic of Seybold is eleven at 25%, the majority religion of the Democratic Republic of Seybold is a tie between Christianity and Buddhism at 37.5%, the majority race of the Democratic Republic of Seybold is Causcasian at 37.5%, the majority Sex of the Democratic Republic of Seybold is Male at 75%, the Majority Language of the Democratic Republic of Seybold is English at 75%, the majority Species of the Democratic Republic of Seybold is Homo Sapiens at 75%, the unemployment rate is at 100%, and the Retirement rate is at 12.5%.

Maximilian Joseph’s “Civil War” and Deportation

Main article: Itzen Investigation and 2019 Seybold Civil War Threat

On 8 March 2019, Maxmillian Joseph, leader of the newly founded radicalist Stalinist Party of Seybold, announced that he was considering declaring a “civil war” on the majority of political parties in the Democratic Republic of Seybold. The reason that “majority” was said was that the Socialist Party of Seybold sided with the Stalinist Party, due to similar ideologies and political placement. President Cooper Norfolk and other government members initially did not take this announcement seriously, but Mr. Joseph started saying rude statements to him and other government members related to the “civil war”. This frightened President Cooper Norfolk, making him re-think his previous initial reaction to this “declaration of civil war”. “I knew that Mr. Joseph is strong enough to fight a war, as he has previously defended himself in multiple previous fights,” said President Cooper Norfolk in a statement. “But I personally do not think he would have the social strength to gather support in the Democratic Republic of Seybold.” President Cooper Norfolk seemed to be slightly scared of Mr. Joseph, but President Cooper Norfolk did believe that he may have had more social and political knowledge than Mr. Joseph contained. Overall, this made President Cooper Norfolk very uncomfortable with the ongoing situation.

This caused President Cooper Norfolk to call an Emergency Council Meeting with the Seybold Emergency Council, which is a council consisting of only government members that discusses problems in the Democratic Republic of Seybold. This Emergency Council meeting lasted for a short period of time on 8 March 2019 and was attending by President Cooper Norfolk himself and Iyan Seeker. The Emergency Council came to the conclusion that they would try to convince Maximilian Joseph to not declare a civil war. On 9 March 2019, the leader of the Stalinist Party of Seybold Maxmillian Joseph released a short statement to President Cooper Norfolk relating to the "Civil War" declaration previously made by him. In the statement, Mr. Joseph claimed that he reconsidered his choice to declare "war" against multiple political parties in the Democratic Republic of Seybold and decided not to declare a "war" on the majority of political parties of the Democratic Republic of Seybold. This surprised President Cooper Norfolk so much that he did not initially believe him. But, Mr. Joseph did seem to sincerely want to put an end to the "civil war" threats that he had been using in the previous day. President Cooper Norfolk was relieved when he heard this new development. He did not want to have to fight anyone, even though he thought he could stop the "civil war" with a simple discussion. When asked by the Seybold Today newspaper why he threatened to declare a “civil war”, he reportedly said simple things such as “okay” and “alrighty”. It was thought at that time that Maximilian Joseph, but further steps were to taken to conclude that he would not need to have a court case of sorts.

On 28 March 2019, newly appointed Attorney General SONS Owen Itzen announced that he had received a request from the Office of the President of the Democratic Republic of Seybold. The request that Attorney General SONS Owen Itzen received from the Office of the President of the Democratic Republic of Seybold was relating to an investigation. The investigation that was requested is going to be a somewhat short investigation related to finding out more information on a national threat to the Democratic Republic of Seybold. This so-called national threat is Maximilian Joseph, chairman of the Stalin-Socialist Party of Seybold, past chairman of the Stalinist Party of Seybold, and the sole person who was involved in the 2019 Seybold Civil War Threat. Attorney General SONS Owen Itzen has been instructed to investigate Maximillian Joseph so that they have additional information against Maximillian Joseph when he is sued with charges of Treason and Conspiring Against the Government. The lawsuit will probably officially occur sometime in September or October, which is when it is expected that the Democratic Republic of Seybold would have a High Court Judge appointed and multiple laws specifying what treason means in the Democratic Republic of Seybold. Those two things have to happen for President Cooper Norfolk, who also requested the investigation against Maximillian Joseph, to have the ability to sue Maximillian Joseph. To help Attorney General SONS Owen Itzen start the investigation, it is rumoured that President Cooper Norfolk gave Attorney General SONS Owen Itzen instructions on what he had to do during the investigation. The instructions were put inside of a case that was then transferred to Attorney General SONS Owen Itzen at about 12:00 GMT-5.

On 5 April 2019, Attorney General Sons Owen Itzen announced that he had released the memo for the Itzen Investigation. The public of the Democratic Republic of Seybold was very excited about the memo being released, as the majority of citizen want Maximilian Joseph, the man at the centre of this investigation, to be deported from the micronation. New citizens and old citizens alike are very happy about the memo being released, especially the citizens that were affected by the actions of Maximillian Joseph. Attorney General Sons Owen Itzen released the Itzen Memo to the current President of the Democratic Republic of Seybold President Cooper Norfolk to be reviewed and grammatically edited. President Cooper Norfolk finished the duty at about 06:00 GMT-5 and then distributed it among the citizens of the Democratic Republic of Seybold about two hours after it was edited. The memo was reportedly vague but allowed the public of the Democratic Republic of Seybold to know that Maximilian Joseph could be punished.

On 6 April 2019, Attorney General SONS Owen Itzen, who was representing the Office of the Attorney General of the Democratic Republic of Seybold, announced that he had released the full Itzen Report of the official Itzen Investigation. That announcement was made at about 12:00 GMT-5 to President Cooper Norfolk, who then grammatically edited the report and submitted it to the public of the Democratic Republic of Seybold. The Itzen Report has been long awaited by citizens of the Democratic Republic of Seybold and many citizens were very happy to see it finally come. The Itzen Report is most likely the most important part of Seyboldish history for 2019 and in the entire existence of the Democratic Republic of Seybold. It is important because it is the first Federal Investigation that has occurred in the Democratic Republic of Seybold and it could result in the first deportation of the Democratic Republic of Seybold. This was also big news for the Norfolk Administration, as they had worked hard to get the investigation completed. The Norfolk Administration definitely celebrated the Report being released and had a small celebration consisting of President Cooper Norfolk only. After President Cooper Norfolk checked the report for grammar and spelling, he decided to release it to the public of the Democratic Republic of Seybold. He did this via the “Official Seybold Discord Server” and messaging citizens who had expressed feelings against Maximilian Joseph, the man at the center of the Itzen Investigation. The Itzen Report is four pages long with four paragraphs that describe the crimes of Maximilian Joseph. The Investigation concluded that Maximilian Joseph was found guilty for Treason Conspiring against the Government, for threatening to declare a civil war, Harassment, for saying very awful and inappropriate thing to citizens of the Democratic Republic of Seybold, and Threatening a Government Member, for threatening to murder Emmett Winters, head of the Seybold Department of Immigration. These crimes eventually led up to the deportation of Maximilian Joseph.

On 8 April 2019, the President of the Democratic Republic of Seybold announced that he had printed a Notice of Deportation. This Notice of Deportation was printed by him on behalf of the Seybold Department of Immigration since the Head of the Seybold Department of Immigration Emmett Winters did not have the technology to print such things at the moment. The Notice of Deportation was going to Maximilian Joseph, who was going to be deported on the ground of him committing the crimes of Treason, Conspiring against the Government, Harassment, and Threatening a Government Member.

Government and politics

The Democratic Republic of Seybold is a Presidential Republic, which features a distinct separation of powers between the executive and legislative branches. The government of Seybold is divided into two primary branches: the Upper Branch, consisting of various departments and executives, and the Lower Branch, which includes the National Assembly and the Lawmakers' Council.

Lawmakers’ Council

The Lawmakers’ Council serves as a crucial component of the Lower Branch of the Seyboldish Government. This council is comprised of members from the President's cabinet and is responsible for several key functions: - Approving proposed laws, - Evaluating the constitutionality of legislation, - Modifying existing laws, - Requiring the National Assembly to re-vote on certain bills.

Members of the Lawmakers’ Council can be dismissed by either the President or the Vice President in cases of corruption or legal violations. Each Lawmaker can serve a maximum of two consecutive two-year terms. The High Court of Seybold also operates within the Lower Branch, ensuring judicial oversight.

National Assembly

The National Assembly represents the Lower Branch of Seybold's government and is composed of representatives from the various provinces and territories of the Democratic Republic of Seybold. A representative in the National Assembly can propose legislation for a vote among their peers. If a bill receives majority support, it is forwarded to a designated Lawmaker who specializes in the subject matter of the bill; if it does not receive sufficient votes, it does not pass into law.

The head of the National Assembly is the Vice President, who oversees the organization of House sessions, has the authority to close meetings at any time, and conducts proceedings. Representatives in the National Assembly can serve an unlimited number of terms, provided they continue to be elected by their constituents. In cases of corruption or constitutional violations, representatives can be removed by the Vice President, and the President may appoint a temporary representative to serve until the next election.

On 21 October 2018, the 2018 MBA (Micronational Bowling Association) Finals occurred between the Democratic Republic of Seybold and the Republic of Tamcoop. The Finals occurred officially around 3 P.M. at a local bowling alley in the proximity of the Democratic Republic of Seybold, who was hosting the event. The athlete representing the Republic of Tamcoop was President Tammy G., while the representative of the Democratic Republic of Seybold was R.C. Jason Keourac, who won the 2018 SBL (Seybold Bowling League) Playoffs on 14 October 2018. The had a practice round first in which Jason Keourac received 122 points and Tammy G. Received 67 points, almost half of what Jason Keourac had. After the practice round, the Final game began. The pin per frame average for Jason Keourac was 8.4 ppf and the pin per frame average for Tammy G. was 6.3 ppf. Overall, Jason Keourac received an incredible 122 Points, beating Tammy G. and his own personal record. Tammy G. only received 71 points, which was terrible considering that she usually gets about 100 points. Jason Keourac won the aluminium metal, which is just like the Olympic Gold Medal (Winning Medal).

The Democratic Republic of Seybold (/ˈseybold/ sea-bold) was a micronation founded on 8 September 2018 by Current President Cooper Norfolk’s Florida Bedroom. He Declared Independence from the United States of America to attempt a realistic nation in a small area and to strengthen the Secessionist Movement in micronationalism.

The Democratic Republic of Seybold is located near the smaller micronation territory of Republic of Tamcoop and the inactive micronation Fort Dunkin. Seybold is a representative democracy with Cooper Norfolk as the head of state and President. The population of Seybold is 16 (humans), however it has two animal citizens, which are not necessarily counted as official citizens. The capital is New Springfield and the largest city is Woodlelands City, by population and size. Seybold has two official languages English and Russian along with an unofficial language, Esperanto.

Seybold became a member of Accentra on 24 February 2019 with Cooper Norfolk as the unofficial Ambassador representing Seybold in Accentra, the New Eiffel Union of Micronations on 25 November 2018, and an observer state of the GUM on 8 December 2018. Seybold was formerly a part of the Florida Micronational Union and the Union of Southern Micronations before they became defunct.

Seybold has two subdivisions that are in the mainland of the Democratic Republic of Seybold. The largest of the subdivisions, by population and size, is the Province of New Woodlelands with a population of 12 and the smallest is the Federal District of New Springfield with a population of 6.
