Asia-Pacific Micronational Economic Cooperation (APMEC) is an organisation for Pacific Rim member micronational economies that promotes free trade throughout the Asia-Pacific region. It was established in 2016 in response to the growing interdependence of Asia-Pacific economies in the micronational community and the advent of regional trade blocs in other parts of the world.

An annual APMEC Economic Leaders' Meeting is attended by the heads of governments. The location of the meeting rotates annually among the member economies, and a famous tradition, followed for most (but not all) summits, involves the attending leaders dressing in a national costume of the host micronation.

History

In August 2016, Dong Pingese Prime Minister Stanley Wu called for more effective economic cooperation across the Pacific Rim region. This led to the first meeting of APMEC in the Dong Ping capital of Tianhua in September, chaired by Dong Ping Foreign Affairs Minister Fiona Law. Attended by ministers from three micronations, the meeting concluded with commitments for future annual meetings in Minuiju.

Member economies

APMEC has currently three members, However, the criterion for membership is that the member is a separate economy, rather than a state. As a result, APMEC uses the term member economies rather than member countries to refer to its members.
