Imrich Padák Kvajda (born A.L., 200?) is a Baranese-Talconian journalist, football player and a left-wing politician. A founder of Baránok, he was the longest serving President of the country from 2018 to 2020, again from 4 April 2020 to 22 April 2020, when he resigned, and most recently from 26 February 2022 to 4 April 2022. He was also involved in many other micronations, most notably the now-defunct Federative Qimelian Republic of Mendersia, where he was the Prime Minister. He also founded the musical project DJ Vemeno and the band Cow on Curry and writes Baranese Telegraph, the only active newspaper in Baránok and also in Talcon. He co-established the Empire of Talcon as the successor of Baránok on 28 January 2021 and was the former head and a member of the Emperor's Council.
Early life
Kvajda was born sometimes in the first decade of the 21st century, in Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia and also grew up and lives there. Little is known about his early life.
Micronational career
Pre-Baránok
In 2015, he founded, together with his school friend, a fictional continent named “Indulia”. This was his first experience with micronationalism and political simulationism, although only short as Indulia quickly fell into inactivity.
Founding of Baránok
Kvajda discovered micronations after he read a book about them, named "Atlas of Countries that don't exist". He became very interested in it and finally, together with A.H., founded his own one, Baránok, on 22 April 2018 and became President. Sadly, the nation became inactive, so Kvajda "took a break" from micronationalism, which lasted for year and a half.
Revivement of Baránok
On 5 September 2019, Kvajda and A.H. (the co-founder of Baránok) remembered Baránok and decided to revive the country. Later that day, 11 citizens joined the country after they fought together with the Baranese Army in the Stone War. Kvajda was re-elected President then.
Połiak-Baránok
After establishment of the Połiak-Baránok federation, Kvajda did not run for its President,[a] but the President, S.D., named him the Acting Prime Minister. He was the Prime Minister also when Połiak-Baránok was dissolved. The referendum about dissolution of the country was organised by his government after a huge political crisis.
Federal Republic of Baránok
After the Federal Republic of Baránok was founded, he shortly served as Deputy President of the Transitional State Council, so he held the then-second highest position in Baránok. His political party was CDA, but he left it when he became President, and never joined it again. On 1 April 2020, he officially confirmed that he would stand in April 2020 presidential election.[1] He won with 8 votes and became third President of Baránok. On 15 April 2020, he founded a social-liberal civic association Republicans (now the defunct Social Democratic Party). He said that it will be transformed into a political party when he will be no longer President. But he was impatient and he finally established the party on 17 April 2020. On 22 April 2020, he resigned from the post of President because of criticism about his activity in the office (authoritarianism, etc.). He then said that he will probably participate in local and parliamentary elections with his party. He was elected to post of Mayor of Goji on 25 April 2020 and re-elected once again in October 2020. On 20 May 2020, he was the iniciator of a succesful constitutional referendum. He got into the Federal Assembly in July 2020 election and became an opposition MP. He was one of the most active MPs. He also ran for the post of the Judge of the Baranese Supreme Court in the 2020 judicial election and he became the Judge of the Court. Also, he became the Minister of Economy in the interim government of M.M. on 10 December 2020 and then Minister of Citizens in the 3rd Government of T.L. on 13 December. He regained the post in the government of Oľga Bebečková, assuming office on 7 January 2021.
Talcon
After Baránok was dissolved on 27 January 2021, Kvajda planned to retire from micronationalism or join the MicrasWiki, but decided to continue on MicroWiki with a new micronation. He established the Empire of Talcon together with S.S. on 28 January 2021, together with S.S. and became the head of the Emperor's Council, however, only interim, as the post was handled to M.M. after February 2021 election.
Semi-retirement from micronationalism, activities to re-establish Baránok and the Sixth Republic of Baránok
The Confederation of Baránok and Talcon was established on 15 April 2021 by Talconian officials, however, it quickly fell into inactivity. Several attempts to re-establish Baránok were made by Kvajda, K.Č. and M.B., but failed because of lack of interest from other former citizens of the country. In June 2021, Kvajda in fact retired from micronationalism, however, still operates on MicroWiki. In November 2021, Kvajda said that Baránok is irreplaceable and if it will be re-established (which he said is currently impossible), it will "not be the same as before". Kvajda, together with T.L., planned to establish a new micronation in late 2021. After re-establishing T.L.'s old micronation, Tocrossia, shortly before Christmas, they decided to dissolve the nation a couple of days after that. He successfully re-established Baránok after more than a year from its dissolution on 26 February 2022, declaring himself President. He did not run for re-election in April 2022 presidential election, though and also didn't get a seat in parliamentary election held in the same month.
In other micronations
Kvajda was also active in other micronations, like the United States of Mekniy and Lurk (where was a member of the Senate briefly), the now-defunct FQRM, or Tocrossia, however, he doesn't engage in any from January 2021, when his primary Discord account became inaccessible.
Criticism
He was criticised many times for his authoritarianism, de facto absolute control of Baránok and excessive involvement in Baranese politics (later calling it a "wrong move"), but he refused these accusations, although later he confirmed it and apologised. He was sometimes called "The Dictator" for this and holds considerable influence in Baránok to this day. He was also criticised for establishing a political party during his time as President, which wasn't allowed in the country then, or for his candidature for Mayor of Goji in April 2020 local elections, because he was President during announcing his candidature, but resigned from the post two days before the elections were held.
Political views
Kvajda describes himself as a left-wing social liberal, a "little bit of" liberal socialist and strongly supports LGBT and abortion rights. In Slovakia, he supports a social-liberal political party named Progressive Slovakia. He also invented his own political ideology, the Imrich Kvajda's thought.
