Elected Prime Minister

Lord Ananttej of Pragjyotishpura
New Horizon

The October 2024 general election in Baustralia will take place on 31 October 2024 (2024-10-31). The election was preceded with the announcements of the resignation of Sir Oliver Doig and Brianna Broersma, senior politicians in the Conservative Party, the former a Prime Minister prior to the election in June of the same year. Two junior members of Parliament, one of the Conservatives, and one independent, resigned as well.

The election also sees the formation of the first parliamentary voting bloc, the Reform Group which includes the New Horizon Party and the Baustralia Party, the two of which have agreed to submit all their members to the bloc. This system is intended to allow membership from other parties without leaving their party.

Election

Candidates would usually be ranked using the first past the post system, however, only one candidate contested in each by-election in Baustralia, following resignations of members of the Conservative Party, to take effect on election day.

The election was originally set take place on 31 October 2024 (2024-10-31), the date of the resignation of prime minister Benjamin Levinson, however, after the conservative resignations, Levinson resigned with effect midnight 19 October, 21 days early.

On 19 October, all candidates remained uncontested, the election was called, and the New Horizon party leader was asked by the King to form a government.

International reactions

Imruland

The Governor Showib Ahmmed congratulated the new Prime Minister in an official message, describing his win as a reflection of the people’s trust in the new leadership. He expressed his belief that under the Prime Minister’s guidance, Baustralia would achieve new milestones and foster national unity and prosperity.

The Governor hoped that Baustralia will play a role as a direct supporter of the Palestinian rights and freedom struggle under the new prime minister’s leadership, however King John affirmed his stance on neutrality toward the conflict. He also expressed hope for strengthening the bonds of friendship between Baustralia and Imruland.[1]
