On the evening of 31 October 2023, a Conservative Party leadership election was tabled in the House of Commons of Baustralia to all Conservative Party members. By the dismissal of the House the next day, Aidan McGrath was elected leader. After 24 days, he resigned, and the party unanimously supported Doig's return in a second, very brief, much less notable, election. The first election was notable for Doig's response to McGrath, using solely a reference to an internet meme.

I, the Right Honourable Member for Monaghan, should be Leader of the Conservative Party over the Right Honourable Member for McNevin, as he has failed to reach professional standards in this House. Under his premiership he has not submitted a budget for His Majesty's Government, and provided a lack of agenda in His Majesty's throne speech. His government has only been able to provide this parliament a single bill out of thirteen, eight of those were authored by His Majesty himself. The Right Honourable Member has also remained absent from this Honourable House since the beginning of this session. Not only is counter-productive to have His Majesty's Government fall behind compared to the previous, but it is more counter-productive for the head of said government to be absent, in return slowing down our government. His Majesty should not be required to author bills for this Parliament as not only it puts a strain on the royal duties His Majesty already holds, but also creates a conflict of interest. As I have said previously to this Honourable house: "We must look towards the future and change our votes for the better of Baustralia, it's people and His Majesty's People".
