Liebenfeld (Portuguese pronunciation: [lˌiɨbe͡ɪŋfˈeld]) is a burg of the municipality of Pomerade in Marienbourg. Located between the Caldas da Princesa and the Cedro streets, it is the third largest Pomerade burg by area, tied with Ranscheterre for last place in the ranking. It has a rotative population of workers and it is the only non-permanently inhabited burg. In addition to Ranscheterre to the west, Liebenfeld is also bordered by Bergau to the east and the Fazenda da Serra neighborhood of the Brazilian municipality of Poços de Caldas to both north and south. The burg is home to the municipal chicken coop and the Moinho dos Poços mill, and encompass part of the Duke's National Park.

Etimology

The name Liebenfeld is a combination of the German infinitive verb "love", lieben, and German toponymy feld, which is a suffix relating to open-air fields. Therefore the meaning of the burg's name can be interpreted as "love field" or "field of love". The name was adopted in reference to the fields south of the town and officially in honor of the Carvalho family's love for each other. However, Duke Arthur V declared that the name is a tribute to the love he feels for his late grandmother Maria III of Marienbourg.
