The Minister of State for Law, Justice and Human Rights (Hindi: विधि, न्याय एवं मानवाधिकार राज्य मंत्री), formerly known as the Minister of State for Law and Justice is a junior minister in the council of ministers of Vishwamitra responsible for the Ministry of Law, Justice and Human Rights and is the deputy to the Minister of Law, Justice and Human Rights who is the head of the ministry. The current minister of state is Eugene Smith who has been in office since 3 October 2024.

The position was first created on 12 April 2017 following the appointment of Tanvi Sridasa in the Third Klarissa Sriraya ministry. The Minister of State for Law, Justice and Human Rights assists their senior ministerial colleague and also carries out duties and heads various departments within the ministry, along with carrying out other specialised duties as directed to them from time to time by the Prime Minister or the cabinet minister. Sampriti Paul is the only minister to have held both the position as cabinet minister as well as minister of state in the law ministry.

History

The position was first created on 12 April 2017 following the appointment of Tanvi Sridasa under prime minister Klarissa Sriraya in her third ministry and served under minister Bhargab Jyoti Medhi. The ministry was renamed to its current name of "Ministry of Law, Justice and Human Rights" on 15 June 2024 and Ezekiel Ensor was appointed as the first holder following the change. The current minister is Eugene Smith who has been in office since 3 October 2024 serving in the fourth ministry of prime minister Klarissa Sriraya under cabinet minister Arsal Abbas Mirza.
