The Minister of Gender and Equality (Hindi: लिंग एवं समानता मंत्री‎) is a minister in the government of Vishwamitra who is the head of the Ministry of Gender and Equality and is a member of the cabinet of Vishwamitra. The current minister is Shivangi Roy who holds the rank as minister of state (independent charge) and has been in office since 3 October 2024.

History

The portfolio of Gender and Equality was first established as a department under the Ministry of Social Justice in February 2022 and the ministry was headed by Matthew Tonna. Later the portfolio was transferred to the Ministry of Social Issues and Citizens Welfare, and later to the Ministry of Social Welfare.

The Ministry of Gender and Equality was created on 15 June 2024 after separating the department from the Ministry of Social Development. The ministry was first headed by minister Ezekiel Ensor.
