The Minister of National Unity (Hindi: राष्ट्रीय एकता मंत्री‎) is a minister in the government of Vishwamitra who is the head of the Ministry of National Unity and is a member of the cabinet of Vishwamitra. The current minister is Josh Ford who has been in office since 3 October 2024. The Minister of National Unity is occasionally assisted by the Minister of State for National Unity, who is a junior minister in the ministry.

History

The Ministry of Community Development was created on 2 September 2019 by prime minister Tanishkaa Patranabish in the fifth Tanishkaa Patranabish ministry. Mohammad Mridul Amin was appointed as the first Minister of Community Development. The ministry remained in effect until being abolished on 3 March 2020.

On 26 November 2019, the Ministry of Linguistic Affairs was created by separating the Department of Linguistic Affairs from the ministry, but was merged back into the ministry on 9 December 2019.

On 17 June 2020, in a cabinet reshuffle by prime minister Anoushkaa Patranabish in her second ministry, created the Coordinating Ministry of Community and Lingustic Affairs and Bhargab Jyoti Medhi was appointed as the coordinating minister. The coordinating ministry was abolished on 28 January 2021.

The Ministry of Diversity and Integration was created on 15 June 2024 by prime minister Klarissa Sriraya and Bhargab Jyoti Medhi was appointed as the minister in the ministry. The ministry was renamed to its present name of Ministry of National Unity on 3 October 2024 and Josh Ford has since been serving as the minister.
