The Microvision Song Festival 2019 was the 5th edition of the annual Microvision Song Festival.

Background

After the October events (dissolution of the Popular Union of Occitania), the Micronational Broadcasting Union reference group has decided to offer the organisation right to Catonia and delay the contest to November 2019.

Due to problems with the national juries and the votes, the festival was delayed to november 30, 2019.

Opening

The opening was made on the agricultural landscapes of the region of La Mancha and the fields of Catonia.

Technical elements

For the second time, after the previous edition, the show was broadcast live. Nevertheless, between the songs, the broadcaster did not take over the "postcard" system to introduce the songs that are chained one after the other.

Intermission

The intermission is the party of the transmission which is located after all the songs but before the vote. Here, the host broadcaster wished to pay tribute to the micronations that participated in 2015 and 2016 and who no longer participate. Unfortunately, a major part of intermission was poorly transmitted because of technical incidents.

Incidents

Suspension of the broadcast

The broadcaster first opted for the youtube platform, which blocked the retransmission three times for copyright issues. The Nova-Occitania and Lundenwic songs could not be broadcast live. If the broadcaster intended to broadcast them at the end a second time, in fact, it could not be done correctly for Caminem Lluny. Moreover, the intermission was not broadcast either. The end of the show was broadcast on the Periscope platform.

This was the second time that the show was broadcast live, TV OC in 2018 chose the platform Viloud.

IBO interference

During the live broadcast of the contest, a member of the IBO, in this case, Calvin White used the space comment to send many spam before being rejected by the moderator of the host broadcaster. Also during the show, many insults against Nova-Occitania and racist comments against Hinata were made on the discord of this organization.

Voting phase

When the voter gave the maximum number of points possible (ie 12) to another candidate, the broadcaster had provided a banner that summarized this vote. For example, when Troncopañya gave Nova-Occitania 12 points, the banner showed "12 points from Troncopañya goes to Nova-Occitania".

The problem occurred when Draaken gave Hinata 12 points, the banner did not say that name but Antares, "12 points from Antares goes to Hinata" instead of "12 points from Draaken goes to Hinata".

Other

• After the victory of Troncopañya, the twitter page of Draaken made a mistake in congratulating the group Doctor Prats for his victory. Indeed, this Catalan group represented Nova-Occitania while Oques Grasses won the competition for Troncopañya. To that, the account of Nova-Occitania answered in this way "Next time maybe".
• Many observers in Nova-Occitania were amused by the fact that if their nation gave Polanda 12 points, they gave none in return (Polanda is the only nation to have awarded a null point to Nova-Occitania) .
• This was the first participation of Rino Island since 2016. In the 2017 edition did not participate because the regime at the time decided not to participate. In 2018 they did not participate again due to the government moratorium on international competitions.
