History
The beginning
It is said that the mythology dates back to the ancient times before humans were even born, somewhere between 3000 BCE and 2500 BCE, in an island on the south Atlantic, the island of Fernando de Noronha is recognized as the archipelago where the events occurred. The legend says that the Original Pantheon, composed of eight deities tried to create a new experiment, for that each god created one thing. Sophia, god of wisdom, said that the world should be in the form of a globe, as she was the most experienced nobody questioned her judgment. Rose, goddess of water, had the idea of filling the world with water, which were later to be called sea. Pedram, god of rock and stone, created the first rocks above sea level and called it the archipelago of Numinas. Stellana, goddess of the sun and moon, alongside with Agnos, god of knowledge, invented the concept of day and night by creating the sun and the moon and finally. Auria, goddess of the wind, blew and with the air that came out of his mouth, humans formed. Lubido, god of desire and lust, realized that there was no way humans could reproduce as such, he created sexual organs and the concept of gender and sex. As Agnos pointed out, it would be impossible to keep humans warm with so much water and wind surrounding them, and he realized that Bastillus, god of fire, could keep himself warm with his power, he suggested that Bastillus should share such power with the other, and Bastillus create bonfire.
It was decided that the main island of Numinas would be the main populated area. It was also decided that there would be a decade meeting at Mount Summum to elect a King, a position that would be elected by the original Pantheon. The main island was given the name Centrudim a word that means center of the world. After an year of existence, the humans rebelled against the gods, as they saw they were not being represented rightly and many times, abused. The 2nd King god, Agnos, established a law which banned humans from Centrudim, giving them every other island around it, at the same time humans could not reside in Centrudim for more than 48 hours, deities could not visit the other islands, which were given the name of Humanitas, for more than 48 hours.
Book I - The Divine Ages
Pedram, the first King God
Pedram was elected the first King god unanimously. During his term, he invested in transportation, mainly in watercrafts. The first type of watercraft to be invented was the boat, the caravan, which was given the name of Agnos in homage to the god of knowledge. He was overthrown by the humans, lead by Carlos(said to be Carlos the Liberator), who rebelled against the lack of representation.
The reign of Agnos
After Pedram was overthrown by the humans, a meeting was held in Mount Summum to elect a new King god. This time, the humans played a major role in deciding the King, they endorsed the god of knowledge, Agnos and they pressured the voters to vote for him. He was elected with a majority of 7 supports and 1 opposition.
During his reign, the Prohibition Law was instated, the law dictated that humans could not reside in the island of Centridum and deities could not reside in the Humanitas islands. After 8 years of reign, the deities considered Agnos to be too pro-humans, as he was doing everything to make humans and gods feel the same, something not approved by the Pantheon. He was overthrown by a vote of no-confidence proposed by Bastillus. He left Centridum in the boat made by Pedram, taking with him, his human supporters, including Carlos, the leader of the opposition of Pedram's reign.
A Conservative Decade
After Agnos was overthrown and left the archipelago of Numinas, the deities elected the most conservative and rigid god, Bastillus, god of fire. During the decade that Bastillus ruled a wide difference was made between the Pantheon and humanity. Humans were completely banned from Centridum and deities were allowed in anywhere at any time for any period they wish.
Two rebellions happened, one lead by Carlos's son, Filipe, which was crushed by Bastillus and Lubido, all participants were hanged, except for Filipe, which was dead by impalement. The second rebellion was much bigger and political, the humans united themselves and declared independence from Centridum, and establish their own self-governing, free country. When the Pantheon was informed of such action, the god of fire destroyed the capital of the humans with his fire. After the deities crushed the two rebellions, Bastillus introduced an even stricter policy regarding the humans, leading to even more in dissatisfaction of the humans.
The Sophic Era
Bastillus was the first King god to serve a full term, after a decade of his ruling, the Pantheon met at Mount Summum to elect the next King god. Several factors made this one of the most dificult elections to take place, for instance, the human population was unhappy with the current leadership, Agnos had left and no one had heard of him ever since and no candidates was a popular between the human community. In a desperate measure, the Pantheon elected Sophia, goddess of wisdom, the new King god, a move that which they hope she would know what to do.
Sophia proved herself really quickly, as the autocract of Numinas, she instated a ultra-federal society in where the humans were self-governing but also loyal to the Pantheon and the deities were also self-governing. The humans and deities, with the exception of Bastillus, approved and endorsed such measures. Sophia also decided to establish treaties and pacts to define the borders between regions.
When Agnos was still around, Sophia and the god of knowledge were very good friends. The deity often seeked advice from the wisdom goddess. Sophia began an expedition to find the lost god. Boats were built by Pedram and his men, while suplies were harvested by Rose and Stellana, the boat that was designed by Pedram was something never seen before, it was baptised Magno as men said it was the biggest structure they ever saw. After six years of searching, they found Agnos settled in current city of Natal. There, he had established a little community with over 500 humans, that worked in a meritocratic system. Agnos was married to the daughter of Carlos, Elizabeth, and had a child with her, the first demi-god, Pedro.
The gods tried to convince Agnos to come back to Centridum, but this was in vain, Agnos was happy. Pedrum persuaded Sophia to forget and go back to Centridum, the reason for this was because Pedrum was honoured due to Agnos' son being named after him, Pedro. When the Magno anchored back in the Bay of Divinus, Centridum, Sophia had an epiphany, she created the position of Prophete(Prophet), those were messengers from the gods that represented the people. With this measure the humans began to feel more comfortable. Sophia also revealed her deal with Agnos, any human who did not want to live in Numinas could join Agnos and his men in a settlement in a land far away. Around 1000 humans moved from the Humanitas Islands to Agnos' settlement.
The Prophetes served their purpose and calmed the humans, but the Pantheon knew they couldn't have a conservative such as Bastillus, and the laws forbade Sophia to run for a second term. So, when the time came for a new King god be elected, the Pantheon elected Lubido, the god of desire and lust, he was not the wisest and by far the most irresponsible, always escaping and pretending to be a human, but he was extremely popular with the humans, and this was extremely important at the time, and with this election, the Sophic era was done.
Book II - The New World
Since the finding of Agnos' community the life in the Numinas islands changed very much. Trades soon began between the two settlements and so did customs and traditions. There were now two grand leaders, the King god of Numinas and the Monarca of the Aequilita(Land of the Equal in Old Papian). The King god was Stellana goddess of sun and moon, and the Monarca was Agnos. Both leaders were very liberal regarding trading and movement of people, it was one of the most prosperous periods in the mythological story.
The Original Pantheon began to divide itself more and more apart, with each god living in different parts of Centridum. With this division, the power became more decentralized giving Nikolaos, a famous figure amongst the humans, the idea to declare independence from Centridum. With a large group of supporters, he was styled Nikolaos de Primir, Pela Gratyas D'omynes, Rey den Insul-Ominitas (Nikolaos the First, by the grace of the Humans, King of the Humanita Islands). This revolution was the first time the Humans gathered to create a sense of national and ethnic pride. They created an advisory body called the Parlaementya which would gather around monthly to discuss matters of importance. When the news reached Centridum, the Pantheon was gathered and solutions were presented by every god. Bastillus suggested complete annihilation of Nikolaos and his people, obviously, the rest of deities were against this. Every god stood up and spoke, solutions varied from total annihilation to increase Humanitas' level of autonomy . Finally, King-god, Stellana rose and spoke. The deity said the independence of Humanitas would be recognized by Centridum.
