Sumac Krai was the smallest krai of the Tsarist Empire of Gishabrun and subsequently of Gishabrun SAR, Renasia. It is notable for having previously been a Department of the Slinky Empyre and the Slinky Republyc.
Etymology
The name Sumac derives from the name of the flowering plant Sumac, which is found growing natively close to the krai.
History
The Sumac Department was established on 17 July 2010 by then Tsar Kuri I as a Department of the Slinky Empyre. The Sumac Department and other Slinky Departments seceded from the Slinky Empyre to form the Slinky Republyc on 15 January 2011, protesting the actions of Kyng Fyrst. The Slinky Republyc dissolved on 26 February 2011 and the Sumac Department was annexed by the Tsarist Empire of Gishabrun on 8 March 2011 as the Sumac Krai. Gishabrun joined the Free State of Renasia on 22 July 2012 as the Gishabrun SAR. Following the dissolution of Renasia on 5 May 2015, Gishabrun became independent and relinquished all territorial claims and became a non-territorial cultural entity.
The area of Sumac Krai was later occupied by the Great Lawl Reich as the Occupied Territory of the Sumac Krai in 2022.
Geography and climate
The climate of what was Sumac Krai is continental (but modified by the nearby reservoir with the Lake Effect), meaning it has an average of 9.5 degrees Celsius, with 133.1 cm of snowfall each winter and 834 mm of precipitation year-round. The area of Sumac Krai is surrounded by roads and grassy hills on all sides. Sumac Krai consisted of a small flat area of grassland. Sumac Krai was surrounded by Canada on all sides.
