Gardinia is a region of the British Isles on the border between Kohlandia and Jennytopia. The area consists of agricultural land, semi-urban green space and industrial land; which is used to store vehicles and other items for the Kohlandian and Jennytopia militaries. Gardinia was the subject of territorial dispute between Jennytopia and Kohlandia from 30 August 2019 to 2 September 2019.

History

Gardinia was a part of the United Kingdom until the Kohlandian declaration of independence was issued on 30 August 2019. Shortly thereafter, the Empire of Jennytopia also declared its independence from the United Kingdom, at which point it claimed ownership of the Gardinia territory. This caused immediate friction with Kohlandia, which had claimed Gardinia as part of its territory as part of its independence declaration.

Jennytopia-Kohlandia Dispute Settlement

Talks between Jennytopia and Kohlandia over the ownership and governance of Gardinia began on 31 August 2019 and lasted until the signing of the Joint Governance Agreement portion of the Mutual Recognition and Cooperation Treaty 2019 between Jennytopia and Kohlandia. This treaty established the borders of Kohlandia and Jennytopia as well as ensuring dual ownership and co-government of Gardinia. The two nations have continued to enjoy shared use of the region ever since.

Military Use

Gardinia is the home of the dry dock for the joint Kohlandian-Jennytopia naval fleet. This is the region where repair and maintenance work is undertaken on the naval vessels, as well as where some vessels are stored when not in use. Gardinia also stores ground transport vehicles; most of which are used to tow the navy vehicles in and out of dry dock.

Gardinia is home to the Kohlandian Air Force's drone fleet; and is also scheduled to house the main storage facility for the planned Kohlandian Space Force.

Agricultural Use

The agricultural land in Gardinia is varied. Fruits and vegetables are grown regularly in the area; including carrots, parsnips, potatoes, cabbages, apples, pears and figs. Crop sizes vary year-on-year, depending on weather.

Transport

Jennytopia operates a small rail network through Gardinia, which is primarily operated in the summer and autumn months. In addition, there is a small vehicle repair yard in Gardinia, also operated by the Jennytopian government. Jennytopia's government vehicles are stored in Gardinia when not in use.
