The Sixth Varuna Sriraya ministry was formed immediately after the March 2018 General Elections which have a clear mandate for the Friends Societal Congress. Pre-poll merger of the Friends Society Freedom Party into the FSC and post-poll merger of the Friends Society Independent Party strengthened the party's image.
Background
The Friends Societal Congress led by Varuna Sriraya was able to secure a majority in the elections, however the Friends Society Secular Party decided to support the government and eventually join the government.
Government Formation
Immediately after the declaration of the results, the Prime Minister Varuna Sriraya and Deputy Prime Minister Tanishkaa Patranabish met the President and tender their resignation, in order to form a new government. The President gave the Leader of the Friends Societal Congress Varuna Sriraya to form the government. Soon after, both the Prime Minister and the Deputy Prime Minister were sworn in by the President.
