The Commonwealth of Pacific Ocean Micronations (in spanish "Mancomunidad de Micronaciones del Pacífico"), is a regional intergovernmental organization and geopolitical union of micronations from the Pacific Ocean. It was established on 12 April 2020. It was founded by Rino Island, Pudustán, and its dependencies, to which the República Federal de Hoso was added. The objective of the Commonwealth is political, social and cultural cooperation, mutual assistance and the protection of its members against inactivity and in terms of cybersecurity.
Organization
The Mancomunidad is an intermicronational organization made up of independent micronational entities or by territories or regions with different degrees of autonomy. Founding members of the Commonwealth are the State of Pudustán, the Republic of Rino Island, the Austral United Republic, and Pedro's Overseas Territory. Belonging to the Commonwealth will not affect the independence and / or political or territorial autonomy of the members. Any independent or semi-independent micronational entity that wishes to be part of the Commonwealth, and that meets the other entry requirements, may be a member.
All members, by the mere fact of belonging to the Commonwealth, mutually recognize each other as independent states or territories or regions with different degrees of autonomy when appropriate.
The objective of the Commonwealth is political, social and cultural cooperation, mutual assistance and the protection of its members against inactivity and in terms of cybersecurity.
Commonwealth Parliament
The Commonwealth has a legislative body called the “Commonwealth Parliament,” which represents the population of the members. The objective of parliament is to develop policies to strengthen ties between organizations, movements or parties that are members of the Commonwealth.
The Commonwealth Parliament is responsible for:
- Analyze, debate and resolve ideas, proposals and problems present within and outside the Commonwealth.
- Formulate draft agreements on matters of common interest to the Commonwealth.
- Elaborate and propose laws for common application among the members of the Commonwealth, which will always be subject to the internal ratification procedure that each member establishes for their common legislation. Once internally approved, they will be understood as fully valid laws in the internal order of each member.
- Define after their election or appointment the number of times they will meet.
The President of Parliament is currently Benedetto Samperi.
