Rajagriha, also officially referred to as the Capital City of Rajagriha is the national capital of Vishwamitra and also the capital city of the province of Purvanchal. Rajagriha is the seat of the nation's executive, hosting the Rashtra Niwas, the official residence of the Rashtradhyaksh. The city was formed on 26 July 2020 as a result of the Cities and administrative divisions Act, 2020 of the Parliament of Vishwamitra. It was known as the city of Maligaon until 11 November 2020, when it was renamed to its present name and was granted the status of national capital.
On 9 December 2020, the city of Rajagriha became a part of the Phase 5 of the GUM Sister Cities Program, having partnered with six cities from six nations. The sister cities of Rajagriha are New Llandudno in Aenopia, Theolonia in Atovia, Astor Impora in Nemkhav Federation, Plușeni in Plushunia, Vidlákov in Rednecks Republic and Fort Canis in Vlasynia.
Etymology
The name Rajagriha means "Home of the King", which has been derived from the term that the city hosts the Rashtra Niwas, which is the official residence of the Rashtradhyaksh.
Administration
The administration of the city of Rajagriha is carried out by a Mayor who is appointed by the Rajpramukh of Purvanchal, who is the absolute monarch of the province of Purvanchal, serves in the position on the pleasure of the Rajpramukh. The Mayor discharges a very ceremonial role, and also referred to as a representative of the Rajpramukh to the city. He is responsible the maintenance of law and order in the city.
The position of the mayor was known as that of the Governor from its establishment in July 2020 until 12 February 2021, following which the title was renamed to that of the Mayor of Rajagriha. The current chief commissioner is Princess Mother Krishna.

Sister cities
The capital city of Rajagriha became a part of the GUM Sister Cities Program in the fifth phase on 9 December 2020 and has been paired with six cities from six member nations of the Grand Unified Micronational. The pairing of cities shall contribute to strengthening ties with allies and also to make friendly relations with the nations with whom bilateral relations are yet to be established. It is also expected that through the programme, various activities can be held amongst the sister cities.
