Swarnarajya (Hindi: स्वर्णराज्य, Bengali: স্বর্ণরাজ্য, Kannada: ಸ್ವರ್ಣರಾಜ್ಯ) is a Vishwamitran federal territory, and a former crown dependency which was annexed from the metropolitan city of Bengaluru, in the state of Karnataka, India. It was annexed by Vishwamitra on 27 April 2023.[2] Dinesh Rajagopalan was subsequently appointed as the Representative of the Sovereign[3] to the crown dependency of Swarnarajya, who is currently the sole resident of the crown dependency.
Name
Swarnarajya is a Hindi word which means the "Golden Country" which is an allusion to the mythical city of El Dorado.
Climate
Swarnarajya had a tropical savanna climate (Köppen climate classification Aw) with distinct wet and dry seasons. Due to its high elevation, Swarnarajya usually enjoyed a more moderate climate throughout the year, although occasional heat waves could make summer somewhat uncomfortable. The coolest month was January with an average low temperature of 15.1 °C (59.2 °F) and the hottest month was April with an average high temperature of 35 °C (95 °F). Swarnarajya receives rainfall from both the northeast and the southwest monsoons and the wettest months were September, October and August, respectively.
