Political parties in Lytera

Lytera is a absolute monarchy, with parties acting as lobbying groups for the Queen. Each party can be freely established by any person, but must register with the current government before an election is called.

Former System

Lytera formally had an established Parliament as the lower house, Council as the upper house and a multi-party system, but due to inactivity, this was dissolved and suspended by the Queen for the foreseeable future. Parties in the Parliament were directly elected in a proportional representative system with the seats given out as required. The Council was hand-picked by the Queen, but usually reflects the outcome of the seats in the Parliament with minor changes. MP's could sit in both houses. In addition, people could run as independents with no political affiliation.
