The Fifth Farhaz Hazarika ministry was the 28th union council of ministers of Vishwamitra under the premiership of Farhaz Hazarika which was formed on 9 October 2022 following the landslide victory of the National People's Congress in the 2023 general election in which it secured 12 of the 20 seats of the Lok Sabha and later also received support from four independent MPs. This was the fourth consecutive cabinet headed by prime minister Farhaz Hazarika thus becoming the first prime minister ever to head four union ministries consecutively. The ministry was dissolved on 29 March 2024 following the resignation of prime minister Farhaz Hazarika and his subsequent succession by first deputy prime minister Klarissa Sriraya.

Background

The 2023 general election resulted in a landslide victory of the National People's Congress which won 12 of the 20 seats while the opposition Vishwamitran National Party ended up winning only 4 seats. Four Independent candidates were also elected and they extended their support to the ruling NPC.

The 16th Lok Sabha was constituted on 9 October 2022 by the Rashtradhyaksh.

Composition

The cabinet was formed on 9 October 2023 with three ministers, namely. Prime Minister Farhaz Hazarika and two deputy prime ministers, Klarissa Sriraya and Arthur Lacey-Scott-FitzLacia.

On 13 October 2023, the other ministers were appointed. Those appointed as cabinet-rank ministers included Jayden Dagsa, Matthew Tonna, Tyler Mullins and Suryadeva Kapei, while those appointed as ministers of state were Johannes Mattias Toome, Shivangi Roy and Ezekiel Ensor.

Changes

  • The first reshuffle took place on 20 December 2023 in which the portfolios of Deputy Prime Minister Klarissa Sriraya, Cabinet Ministers Jayden Dagsa, Tyler Mullins, Suryadeva Kapei and Minister of State Ezekiel Ensor were reshuffled. Ensor was appointed as Minister of State with independent charge.
