An air vice marshal is an air officer of the Baustralian Armed Forces, more specifically, His Royal Air Force. It outranks a brigadier of the army, a commodore of the navy, and an air commodore of the air force. Its equivalent is a rear admiral of the navy, and a major general of the army. It is outranked by a lieutenant general of the army, an admiral of the navy, and an air marshal of the air force.
