A captain is a junior commissioned officer of the Baustralian Armed Forces, more specifically, the Baustralian Army. It outranks a lieutenant of the army, a sub lieutenant of the navy, and a flying officer of the air force. Its equivalent is a lieutenant of the navy, and a flight lieutenant of the air force. It is outranked by a major of the army and marines, a lieutenant commander of the navy, and a squadron leader of the air force.
The duties of a captain are to be second in command to a squadron or company.
Insignia
Insignia of a Captain on the peaked cap is a plain peak. The cap badge is of the regiment he belongs to. Four rows of buttons are worn on the tunic. The rank insignia is three “pips”, that is small Order of the Gadus stars.
