An acting sub-lieutenant was the most junior commissioned officer rank of the Baustralian Armed Forces, more specifically, His Royal Navy. It outranked a cadet, now a midshipman (His Royal Navy. Its equivalent was a second lieutenant of the marines and army, and a pilot officer of the air force. It was outranked by a sub-lieutenant of the navy, or lieutenant of the army.
Insignia
Insignia of an Acting sub-lieutenant of the navy on the peaked cap was a gold band on the outward edge of the peak. On the service hat, it was a thin gold strap. The cap badge was a crowned anchor surrounded by an oak leaf wreath. Three rows of buttons are worn on the tunic, as well as a gold band around the cuff with a curl facing inward.
