The A1 Air Force is the airborne military unit of the A1 Defence Force. It currently operates in real life with paper and model aircraft along with fictional craft in its Pontus division.

History

The A1 Air Force was one of the original three services established after the Pprit Revolution, but was disbanded in 2009 owing to "redundancy reasons". However, it was resurrected in early 2010, as part of the A1DF's re-organisation and modernisation programme. It has never been involved in a military engagement, and is not properly equipped to do so, except for surveillance and reconnaissance purposes.

A reform of the A1AF took place in late 2010 after the appointment of James Wilary to Defence Commander of the A1 Defence Force. This included an overhaul of the ranks system and unit structure.

Equipment

The A1 Air Force has a number of different types of planes, and these may be classified into "model", "paper" and Micras. It is not within A1's realistic jurisdiction to be in possession of actual military aircraft.

Model

The A1AF currently has two model types in operation: the HK-09 and HK-10. The HK-10 is a model helicopter unit, which is radio controlled. The HK-09 unit is not able to be controlled, is ageing, and will most likely be replaced.

Pontus aircraft & equipment

The current aircraft in use within the Pontus military forces number to 182. There are also 833 paratroop soldiers enlisted that make up the special forces for the air force. Multiple varieties of aircraft are used for the A1 Air Force in Pontus, including naval planes and one model of helicopter. These different airplanes are required to provide a full and complete operational air force for the Pontus Air Force. Cargo transports for both base and carrier operations are enlisted, and reconnaissance planes allow for not only information gathering on unknown positions, but also monitoring of incoming enemies. Tanker craft create the ability for longer ranges in missions by allowing mid air refueling. The passenger aircraft used by the air force are utilized for transport of important persons and other non comabt people.

Unit delegations

Each of the four bases and carriers in Pontus are given a semi permanent assignment of different aircraft. Each of the carrier groups in the A1 Navy are allocated copy distributions of planes for use on each of the carriers. The main Air Force Base has the highest aircraft count, and the largest variety. Perle Hafen Defence Force Base is given less aircraft and is lacking a few of the more expensive and advanced models of planes as it is not the prime base for aircraft in Pontus.
