The Pontus Defence Force (Abbreviated: PDF; Indonesian: Angkatan Pertahanan Pontus) is the armed forces of the Pontus Government and a branch of the national A1 Defence Force. It is delegated the duties of protecting the Republic from invasion and to ensure order throughout.

Legal status

The Commander in Chief of the Pontus Defence Force is constitutionally the First Secretary as head of state of A1 and CIC of the A1 Defence Force, but "real" command of the PDF is vested in the General Office Commanding A1 Defence Force (GOCA1DF). That position is currently held by AIRCM James Wilary of the Pontus Air Force.

Personnel

All generic members of the Pontus forces are citizens of the Republic itself. These enlisted personal and lower level officers do not exist in real life and number into the thousands. The higest ranking officers, and the major posts in the Pontus branches, are all held by real non Pontan A1 Defence Force members.

Current status

The Pontus Defence Force is the only republican specific military in A1. The forces active in the Republic are not compatable with the physical forces of the overall A1 Defence Force and serve as sub organization. The A1DF however, is still superior to the PDF.
