The Free City of Simeonovgrad (Bulgarian: Свободен град Симеоновград, Svoboden grad Simeonovgrad, [svoˈbɔdɛn ɡrat simɛˈɔnovɡrat]), or simply, Simeonovgrad (Bulgarian: Симеоновград, Simeonovgrad, [simɛˈɔnovɡrat]), is a Free City in Græcia.

Name

The name of the Free City was given in honour of Simeon Nikolov, the founder of Lesia and Karduna who gifted the area to Græcia.

History

Between 3 January 2021 AD and 1 September 2023 AD, Nove Karduny served as the de jure capital city of Lesia and Karduna. Upon signing the Simeonovden Accord, the Bulgarian micronation decided to give Nove Karduny to Græcia as a gift. Following this move, Græcia refounded the settlement as "Simeonovgrad", naming it in honour of Simeon Nikolov, president of Lesia and Karduna.

The Free City of Simeonovgrad was established on 1 September 2023 AD, as part of the Simeonovden Accord.

[…] For his contribution so far in protecting the interests of Lesia and Karduna, Simeon Nikolov hereby gifts the Federal City of Nove Karduny to Græcia, as a thanking gesture for Quintus’ service to the micronation, both as a citizen and as a protector.
