The Free City of Phlyeia (Hellenic: Ἐλευθέρα Πόλις τῆς Φλυείας, Elefþéra Pólis tī̃s Flyíās, [e.lefˈθe.ra ˈpo.lis tiːs fliˈi.aːs]), or simply, Phlyeia (Hellenic: Φλυεῖα, Flyĩa, [fliˈiː.a]), formerly known as the Exarchate of Great Ionia (Hellenic: Ἐξαρχάτον τῆς Μεγάλης Ἰωνίας, Eksarxáton tī̃s Meğálīs Iōníās, [eks.arˈxa.ton tiːs meˈɣa.liːs i.ɔːˈni.aːs]), or simply Great Ionia (Hellenic: Μεγάλη Ἰωνία, Meğálī Iōníā, [meˈɣa.liː i.ɔːˈni.aː]), is a Free City in Græcia.

Name

The name of the first settlement, Great Ionia, comes from Ionia, an Ancient Hellenic region in Asia Minor. This is also the source of the name of Nea Ionia, a Græcian borough. When Great Ionia was gifted to Græcia, its founder chose a new name, to reflect the ancient past of the area it occupies: Phlyeia, a variant of the name of Phlya, an ancient dēmos in Attica, close to present-day Chalandrion.

History

Great Ionia was founded on 29 October 2014 AD by Moniod Michail-Angelos. Its purpose was to create a micronation in which the world would live in justice and equality, without oppression. Without any permanent basis, Great Ionia was established as a multicultural state , founded in Chalandrion, Attica. On 30 December 2019 AD, it was bilaterally annexed by Imvrassia. After the administrative reorganization of 1 January 2020 AD, the Exarchate of Great Ionia became administratively subordinate to the Praetorian Prefecture of Elladia. On 24 May 2023 AD, Imvrassia transferred the sovereignty of the Exarchate of Great Ionia to Græcia, within the framework of friendship and cooperation between the two states.
