The Free City of Porto Leone (Hellenic: Ἐλευθέρα Πόλις τοῦ Πόρτο Λεῶνε, Elefþéra Pólis tū̃ Pórto Leō̃ne, [e.lefˈθe.ra ˈpo.lis tuː ˈpor.to leˈɔː.ne]), or simply, Porto Leone (Hellenic: Πόρτο Λεῶνε, Pórto Leō̃ne, [ˈpor.to leˈɔː.ne]), is a Free City in Græcia.

Name

The name of the Free City was derived from the Venetian name of the city and port of Piraeus, which was "Porto Leone".

History

The Free City of Porto Leone was established on 18 May 2023 AD, following real-life events that had to do with the ownership of the property where it is located.

Economy

The Free City of Porto Leone depends on local consumption and tourism, more specifically travel. The free city's area of influence includes many restaurants, cafés, shops, supermarkets, travel agencies, and many more types of businesses.

Geography

The Free City of Porto Leone is located entirely within the municipality of Piraeus, close to its centre. Its area of influence covers a significant portion of the municipality.

Religion

The vast majority of the people living in the Free City are Orthodox Christians (99%), while the rest are atheists and muslims. The cathedral of the Free City is the Hagia Triada Cathedral, dedicated to the Holy Trinity, whose feast is celebrated one day after Pentecost.

Language

The official language of the Free City is Hellenic. Although not recognised, Albanian and Urdu are spoken immigrant languages.
