- In this traditional Sabian name, Baškarivái is the matronymic and Babvér is the family name.
Ryam Edric Piper (Sabian: ríam edrik baškarivái babvér) is a Sabioveronese chemist and politician. Piper is currently a sitting member of the atanói, the national parliament of Sabia and Verona. Most recently, he was Secretary of the Arts in Shounn Virny's two consecutive governments, from 2015 to 2017.
He was also Lieutenant Secretary (mayor) of Tegula, Minister of the Environment under Ann Stefanović, and member of the Legislative Courts representing Tegula. As a member of the Veronan Pashqari minority, Piper was a Pashqari rights activist early in his career.
Background
Piper belongs to the Veronan Pashqari minority.[1] During Napoléon Bleuberrie's tenure as Prime Minister, Piper was part of the apolitical minority in Sabia and Verona. In the early months of Kóvérsz' government, he joined the Free Suyu Front and formed part of the protests against the new conservative PM and his cabinet. He was a supporter of Anton Schubert-Moss during the controversy and trial that surrounded him and the FSF leader Hidram Cerwyn.
Political career
XAM, Roots and Convergence
When in April 2013 former Governor Tarik Kârjasary founded the symmetocratic satire Strawberry Party, Piper joined as one of the early members, granting him the position of Party candidate for the May 2013 elections. He obtained 21% of the votes. In June 2013, he became part of the Roots Party when the XAM and the Free Suyu Front merged. He was chosen to be part of the Stefanović Cabinet as Minister for the Environment, position he held until the March 2014 election. Following the introduction of the 2014 Constitution and the coronation of Queen Isadora, the Roots Party became Convergence and Amity, party that Piper became Speaker of. After the March 2014 general election, Piper was elected a Deputy of the Chamber of Deputies representing the Tegula II Pas legislative district (which was later renamed as Tegula II Basïsh-el-Naqäp).
Alios and Virny ministries
Piper was one of the Sabioveronese politicians to participate in the Haronos Plan in August 2015. He joined the National Artists' Guild on 26 August 2015, participating in its first congress held in the new capital city of Alios, which had just been founded. In October 2015, he became Secretary of the Arts under the new prime minister, Shounn Virny. Under his administration, the government-funded film Proun, starred and directed by Pomme-Gabrielle Gauvier, was released to intermicronational acclaim. Piper remained at the division's helm when Virny formed the coalition government with the Left.
