History

Initial interaction between the State of Vishwamitra and the Free Nation of New Athens began in late September 2020 following both nations gaining membership in the Cupertino Alliance. Further interactions took place through the Monmarkian Empire, a long-standing ally nation of New Athens and following the nomination of Tyler Mullins, King of New Athens as the Minister of Homeland Security in the Cupertino Alliance and is subsequent appointment to the post.

Further, in January 2021, a request was made by the Government of Vishwamitra before the King of New Athens for the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two nations which was soon accepted by him. The relations were formalised on 10 January 2021 following the signing of a treaty of mutual recognition between the two nations. The treaty was signed by Rashtradhyaksh Varuna Sriraya on behalf of Vishwamitra, while Tyler Mullins, the King of New Athens and Chief Ambassador Viscount Ryan Manderfield signed on behalf of the New Athenian government.

Bilateral relations

The treaty of mutual recognition signed between Vishwamitra and New Athens on 10 January 2021 ushered into an era of cooperation and great friendship which is based on mutual understanding. However, regular contact or communication were not maintained until June the same year. The respective heads of state of the two nations maintained regular communication since then which helped the relations strengthen and enhance to a greater extent. The August 2021 Cupertino Alliance Chair election played a pivotal role in the enhancement of relations between Vishwamitra and New Athens when Rashtradhyaksh Varuna Sriraya and King Tyler Mullins contested for the position of the Chair and Lieutenant Chair on the joint "Sriraya-Mullins Ticket" and were subsequently successful in winning the election with 56.66% of the total votes polled.

Both leaders assumed their respective office on 15 August 2021.
