Verraland-Sylvana is one of the provinces of the Kingdom of Atovia located in the state of New York. It is the combination of three former provinces, Verraland, Sylvana, and Tuskawanta. These three provinces were initially separate federal states of the Federated States of Transterra until the merger of Transterra into Atovia on 23 April 2019. Initially these were three distinct provinces within the kingdom with their own governments. Verraland and Sylvana were then merged together into the province of Verraland-Sylvana on 27 June 2019. Later, on 16 December 2019, Tuskawanta was dissolved as a distinct province and the land was ceded to Verraland-Sylvana.
Etymology
Verraland is named after Giovanni da Verrazzano, an Italian explorer in North America who discovered New York Harbor in 1524. Sylvana is named after the Roman god Silvanus, who is the god of the woodlands and forest.
History
Following the assimilation of Transterra into Atovia on 23 April 2019, the relevant treaty contained a provision which reclassified the federal states of Transterra as provinces of Atovia. With regard to the limited citizenship and common ownership of the land of Verraland and Sylvana, the provinces of Verraland and Sylvana were merged together and have been governed as one since 27 June 2019. On 16 December 2019, the province of Tuskawanta was dissolved as a province and the land was ceded to Verraland-Sylvana. This was due to the limited number of citizens.
Government
Currently Verraland-Sylvana is divided into [] cantons. Each canton is governed by a Canton Executive who is responsible for the canton and its affairs.
