The Royal Vishwamitran Army (Hindi: राज विश्वामित्र सेना‎) is the principal and sole armed force of Vishwamitra. It was formed officially on 14 May 2018 as the sole branch of the armed forces. Later, the other two branches were created in 2021, only for them to be abolished in 2022.

The primary mission of the Royal Army is to ensure national security and national unity, to defend the nation from external aggression and internal threats, and to maintain peace and security within its borders.

History

The Royal Vishwamitran Army was constituted on the eve of the constitutional coup of 14 May 2018 by then Prime Minister Varuna Sriraya, who eventually assumed the rank of the Field Marshal in the army. The army played a largely ceremonial and nominal job until January 2021 when it was professional re-established and larger ranks were increased and appointments were made to it. As of December 2021, it is the largest branch of the armed forces in terms of personnels.
