The commander-in-chief of the Vishwamitra Armed Forces exercises supreme command and control over Vishwamitra's military, the Vishwamitran Armed Forces. Constitutionally, the command-in-chief is vested in the Vishwamitran monarch, Varuna Sriraya. Since the Decree, 2018 was signed by President Anoushkaa Patranabish, it was proclaimed that Varuna Sriraya shall for-life continue to serve as the commander-in-chief of the armed forces, irrespective of the position he serves on. Ever since the establishment of the position, it was known of that of the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and was renamed to that of the Commander-in-Chief in 2021.
Powers and functions
The commander-in-chief of the armed forces assumes the role and duties of the senior-most officer-rank in the tri-services, that is, the army, navy and the air force. In the Royal Vishwamitran Army, the commander-in-chief holds the rank of the field marshal, which is an OF-10 rank; in the Royal Vishwamitran Navy, the rank of the Admiral of the Fleet and the in the Royal Vishwamitran Air Force, the rank of the Marshal of the Air Force.
The role of commander-in-chief is the only constitutional means by which decisions are made over the deployment and disposition of the Vishwamitran Armed Forces, which is administered with the consultation of the cabinet. The commander-in-chief appoints the Chief of the General Staff and the commanders of the tri-services.
Rank insignia
There is no special and separate rank insignia as the commander-in-chief of the armed forces. As the commander-in-chief, an individual holds the senior-most rank in all the services of the Armed Forces of Vishwamitra.
