Types of government specific to micronationalism

Markssenism is a political ideology developed by Håkon Lindström of Zealandia which derives concepts both from monarchism and communism. It advocates council (Assembly) democracy, workers' self-management, the abolition of social classes which are based on wealth, eventual world revolution, and - unusually for an ideology with communist concepts - monarchy to function as a workers personification and symbol of unity. It is sometimes considered a Zealandian version of Theodorism, although it is now thought that both ideologies began to independently develop around the same time (c. October 2011).

Concepts and core tenants

Economic

  • Workers Self Management: companies and industries are run by the workers themselves in a democratic Assembly.
  • Total employment: - the unemployed who are not in education may choose to either have all welfare cut or be allocated a job by the government with a wage just over subsistence level until they find employment that they would prefer to be in. Refusing to seek employment when it is available and therefore contribute to society will be considered a crime.
  • Inheritance abolition: abolishing all inheritance beyond that which is considered personal property or wealth necessary for a reasonable existence (this takes into account a persons financial situation at the time of the death)
  • Redistribution of income through taxation and welfare to eventually create a scenario wherein all people shall have roughly the same amount of wealth, with slight variations depending on the level of their contribution to society.
  • Centrally planned economy: a centrally administered economy in conjunction with the workers assemblies in the companies and industries that should produce the best economic situation for everyone.

Social/Political

  • Ultimate political power to be held by a great or all assembly directly and proportionately elected by the people, this assembly would be followed by directly elected regional assemblies and local assemblies in which anyone can participate.
  • A monarch as head of state to act as a personification and symbol of unity and political stability for the nation. Monarchs should only exercise political power if, and to the degree, permitted by the great assembly of their nation.
  • Secularisation - faiths and religious beliefs should never be persecuted or discriminated against, but religion should not be established; there should be complete and total separation of religion and state.
  • Human Rights: basic human rights must be respected at all costs.
  • All people will have the right to a political opinion and the right to express it in the assemblies.

Environmental and Cultural Policies

  • Renewable and clean energy: Using and researching Renewable and clean energy allows further progress whilst preserving our precious environment for everyone.
  • Protection of Language and Culture: Promoting and taking proactive steps to ensure all cultures and languages have a chance of surviving and growing (A Zealandian example is the promotion of Zealandian Culture and the Swedish and Zealandian Languages).
  • Recycling: Recycling waste products and water a lesser strain is placed upon the environmental.
  • Sustainable food stocks: By developing sustainable food stocks human survival is ensured.
  • From each according to his ability, to each according to his need: every person should contribute to society to the best of his or her ability and consume from society in proportion to his or her needs.
  • Anti Discrimination: Is a basic concept that a person shall not be judged upon by their disability, race, gender or anything else but by their skills and knowledge in a particular area.

International

  • Open Borders: Any person should be free to cross an international frontier without unreasonable restrictions.
  • Anti Imperialism: the belief that it is unjust for a nation to impose its will on another nation through imperialistic actions and military threats.
  • An eventual world revolution, as capitalism is gradually exposed as unfair and corrupt, eliminating false class consciousness and the belief that capitalism is "inevitable" or "natural".Eventually this will take off after a "Western" nation adopts Markssenism.
  • Total Disarmament: Starting with the disarmament of all Nuclear, Biological, Chemical and Cluster Weapons and eventually leading to world wide neutrality through disarmament with only police and ceremonial militaries left.
  • A Supreme Assembly: A supreme assembly directly elected by and from the world's population would meet to discuss global issues and their solutions.

Assemblies

The Structure of Markssen Assemblies strongly resembles Scandinavian Things or assemblies rather than the traditional soviets of most socialist ideas and ideologies.
The Assemblies elect two members who will chair said assemblies rather than having a presidium like a soviet does that holds power when the soviet is not in session.

Likeness to Theodorism

Some people have compared Markssenism to Theodorism, most notably Crown Prince Jonathan of Austenasia who has on a few occasions called it a Zealandian variant of Theodorism - however, minor differences (such as Marssenism advocating Scandinavian Thing-style assemblies whereas Theodorism advocates traditional socialist soviets) are present..
Another primary difference that Markssenism places a much greater emphasis on environmentalism than Theodorism, highlighting the need for sustainability for human survival, although the Eight Stage Transition theory of Theodorism does indicate that the "environmental consequences of capitalism" are a problem to be solved.
