The Government Chkaya V is the fifth cabinet of Occitania following the Occitanian legislative election, December 2017. For the first time, following the renovation of the political system campaign the President of Occitania is not the head of government, it is his prime minister who has this charge.
On 4 March 2018, the Occitanian people have chosen during a popular consultation to remain a member of the GUM. However, the MOP and the PIP supported the 'leave' option. Prime Minister Chkaya submitted a confidence vote to the Vergadering, which was passed by MOP majority while the PIP was absent from the vote. In the news site Al Occitania, Ivanna Minaïeva, Ministry of the French minority (MOP) says that " Discussions will have to be started with the PIP to reach an agreement to maintain government in order to maintain political stability ".
