Carlo I of Landopia[b] GCSV, ODS, MEOSC, OSME, ODSO, DOKa (Italian: Carlo I di Landopia, Latin: Carolus Primus [Rex] Landopiae; Italy, 2003) is the first and actual king of the Kingdom of Landopia, on the throne since 20 december 2018.

Called by his people by numerous names such as, the First, the Great or the Wise, he is the most important figure in the Kingdom of Landopia. His reign, still ongoing, is known to the Landopians for having expanded the modernization of the monarchy, with new homeland symbols such as national flags, music, Landopian heraldry, as well as the opening to the intermicronational world through royal decrees and talks between different nations. Worthy of note are his interests in classical art, from architecture to sculpture, theology, philosophy, classical music, literature, history, geography, heraldry and vexillology.

As the head of state, he is also the fons honorum of all honours and decoration of the Kingdom.

Political officies

Until 2024, outside the Kingdom of Landopia, Carlo I has never received or requested political roles. On September 22, he receives from Varuna Sriraya a very important proposal for the relations between Landopia, Vishwamitra and Italy, namely that of Ambassador of Vishwamitra to Italy, Vatican City and San Marino. After clarifications given by the Sovereign of Vishwamitra, Carlo I has accepted with good taste the role conferred on him by Varuna.

The duties of the King

The King has a neutral position in the Kingdom of Landopia: in addition to being a reference figure for the people as a political institution, he has the task of defending the Homeland through royal orders to the Landopian armed forces from any military attacks launched by enemy micropowers. Furthermore, as ad interim minister of foreign affairs, he has the task of bringing the nation to such visibility as to be able to afford survival in the micro-international panorama, with specific diplomatic missions.

Political view

The King has numerous times publicly defined his political position in the Senate of the Kingdom, during emergency sessions. He is a traditionalist and a patriot, both an landopian and an italian one. He is also a fervent believer in Christ, however repudiating the Second Vatican Council and embracing the Tridentine mass. The 2018 coronation, as a recreational project, took place without any Christian rite. He strongly avoided the ascension to the throne through this as the project would have taken a too serious and unplayful turn. However, by royal decree he proclaimed to the people the state religion, that of Catholic Christianity of the Roman rite.

Other ventures

Music

The King's musical career is still ongoing, however the study of music is fundamental to him. His love for baroque music, mainly the sacred and profane works of Johann Sebastian Bach, Antonio Vivaldi and Georg Friederich Handel, led him to the study of baroque composition, with the use of basso continuo and the stylistic characteristics of the time. He also prefers all christian sacred music: the Catholic, the Orthodox and the Protestant one. For this reason, one year after the proclamation of the Kingdom he made official the choice of the royal and national anthem, i.e. the first movement of Johann Sebastian Bach's Magnificat (BWV 243).

Literature, philosophy and theology

Interest in literature and philosophy has increased in recent times with the study of Nietzsche, Hegel, Heidegger, Plato, Aristotle, Benedetto Croce, Giordano Bruno and his preferred philosopher Yukio Mishima. Out of passion he wrote up to ten short dissertations, philosophical treatises, essays on music, politics and current affairs, however none of these were published. Literature for the King is crucial, especially the Italian, the French and the Russian one. Out of passion he read the entirety of the Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri, 1984 by George Orwell, Cuore (Heart) by Edmondo de Amicis and numerous works by Tolstoj. He is currently reading Gödel Escher Bach, a very challenging and complex book. Regarding theology he is interested in the works of the doctors of the church, including Saint Thomas Aquinas, Saint Benedict and Saint Augustine of Hippo.
