The Sprinske Republic, commonly referred to as just Sprinskè was a micronation in the Kolniari Sector, it was founded on 16 January 2023 just minutes before the dissolution of the Sprinske Empire, of which it is the legal continuation of. The Sprinske Republic claimed the entirety of the Sprinske Empire’s former claims, including an exclave in Canada which was known as the Classified Territory.
The nation was founded by Kaiser Aaron I, the first Emperor of the Sprinske Empire after the original nation was becoming much more communist under the new ‘emperor’ who was in actuality an alt of Zachary Stewart.
History
On 12 January 2023, the Sprinske Empire’s leader, Emperor Aaron I, abdicated due to a number of reasons including losing interest in micronationalism, and he made public his intentions to retire from micronationalism. He was replaced by ‘Emperor Blair I’ who was actually an alternate account of Zachary Stewart, leader of the Federal Republic of Free Scotland, a country that the Sprinske Empire had previously been at war with. Within the first hour of ‘Blair I’ he successfully ‘made peace’ with Zachary Stewart and his country. On the night of 15 January 2023, the Republic of Donkrea held a vote to decide on its government system, which quickly resulted in Zachary Stewart and ‘Blair I’ voting for communism. Seeing how the nation was about to turn communist, the Taoiseach of Donkrea quickly removed the option from the list, but did give the option for Titoism instead. This resulted in Zachary announcing the return of the Sprinske Communist Republic, and ‘Blair I’ immediately said that he would join. Emperor Emeritus Aaron I then announced that Shedhill and Rio De Sprinske would declare independence if Sprinskè became communist, leading to ‘Blair I’ revealing that he was actually an alt. Aaron I then declared independence for the Sprinske Republic which would consist of Shedhill, Rio De Sprinske and the Classified Territory. This immediately led to a war with Free Scotland.
On 16 January 2023, hours after the Declaration of Independence was signed, Free Scotland invaded the Republic of New Riga and claimed that it was an ‘accident’ and that he had actually tried to invade Shedhill. The Sprinske Republic began its first ever military operation and liberated New Riga, making it independent again. This invasion of New Riga was met with criticism from other nations, and the Kolniaric Union’s court unanimously voted that the invasion breached Article 8 of the New Fiorentina Agreement, therefore leading to the actions being recognised as a war crime under Kolniaric law.
Government
The government of the Sprinske Republic is not dissimilar to the Sprinske Empire’s government, albeit with a few differences. The nation’s head of state is the Kaiser, a title chosen by Aaron I to dispute the power of the Sprinske Empire’s ‘emperor’ and to claim legitimacy as the monarch of all of Sprinskè. The head of government is the Taoiseach, who is effectively the Prime Minister of Sprinskè. The title of Taoiseach was chosen to pay homage to the Republic of Donkrea, and also because the majority of the nation’s citizens are of Irish decent, and the title was chosen as part of a push to bring the Irish language to Kolniari. As of 2023, the Kaiser is currently trying to learn Irish.
Culture
The nation’s culture is a lot more Celtic than that of its predecessor. Most of the citizens still maintain left-wing views and support for the Scottish National Party is very high. The culture change from its predecessor can be summed up as part of a push to revive the traditional culture of the Celtic people, with a lot of Irish influences, including the title of the head of government as well as Scottish ones. Irish is an officially recognised language of the nation, and Sprinskè has its own dialect of Scots which is heavily influenced by Hiberno-English.
Foreign relations
The Sprinske Republic was a member of the BalCasMed Alliance. Despite the alliance having a system where new members had to be an observer for two weeks, as the Sprinske Republic was a continuation of the Sprinske Empire, which was a member of the alliance prior to its dissolution, the nation did not have to go through a period of observership.
