The Sprinske Communist Republic, often referred to as the SCR was a self-declared independent nation in the Kolniari Sector, in Glasgow, Scotland. Despite being a socialist nation, it was also a monarchy, an unusual hybrid that worked well enough for the nation during it’s existence. The country was founded on 12 August 2020, and was dissolved by the Treaty of Spritsnasque following the Sprinske Revolution on 30 October 2020, splitting into the Sprinske Empire and the Imperial Republic of Donkrea

The Sprinske Communist Republic was for a long time believed to be the first nation in the Kolniari Sector, but in 2022, the PDRS presented some relics of an older nation, the Republic of Donkrea, which existed prior to the Sprinske Communist Republic, but was forgotten as nothing notable happened. At the time, it was the strongest Kolniaric nation to have existed, and to date it remains as the second strongest Kolniaric Nation to have existed. It was recreated in a way with the Democratic Republic of Sprinske in August 2021, but there was no monarchy, replaced by a military dictatorship instead, but the King of the Sprinske Communist Republic also led the Democratic Republic of Sprinske as a General.

At the time, the Sprinske Communist Republic had a sphere of influence spanning the entire region of Kolniari, but it’s iron grip on the region would slip in mid to late 2020 as the country began it’s decline, as separatist groups began to arise in the provinces.

History

In mid 2020, the Republic of Donkrea ruled most of the Greater Donkrea region in the Kolniari Sector, a region later known as the Sprinske Communist Republic. The rest of the Greater Donkrea Area was ruled by Zachary Stewart and his self-declared communist tribe, and for a while, the tribe and micronation didn’t involve with each other, but Donkrea was a socialist nation, and uniting with the tribe could make the country larger without having to change too much, so after a few talks between Donkrea and the tribes, Taoiseach Aaron of Donkrea spoke to Zachary Stewart and explained to him the idea of micronationalism. On 12 August 2020, the Sprinske Communist Republic came into existence, at that time known as the Falcon Republic.

The country tried to blend monarchy and communism, the king held 100% power, but the works of Karl Marx were prominent in the nation, shown by things such as the motto of the country being ‘the workers have nothing to loose but their chains’. The country also had a law ownership of private property was illegal, and a government similar to Vladimir Lenin’s was set up, despite being a monarchy. As the nation was a dictatorship, it could function

King Zachary I and the Prime Minister agreed to stage a political march to boost patriotism that is believed to have happened in September 2020. A crowd of 5 soldiers, the Prime Minister and the King charged at full speed screaming war cries, and invaded a local football pitch. Half of the players ended up joining the rally, as they invaded another football pitch. The rally lasted for 20 minutes and overall gave a major boost to patriotism, with around 40 members by the end of it.

The peak of the nation was in mid October 2020, King Zachary had at least 80% support, and the Prime Minister also had high levels of support, but the exact figures are unknown. At this time, the population was around 30, but the peak only lasted for 3 days, until problems began to arise. The Prime Minister and General began discussing Prince Gregor’s loyalty, believing that he would attempt a coup within the next few weeks, they would turn out to be right.

At some point, the nation established something that could be described as a secret police force. It didn’t have a name, but its purpose was to keep the nation loyal to the government no matter what. This ‘secret police force’ occasionally used violence to keep the nation in order, and the government lost a lot of support due to this action, it’s believed that this secret police force played a major role in doing the opposite of what it was intended to do and helped pave the way for two major uprisings. On 26 October, a demonstration was organised in the city of New Riga, the capital of the Province of Donkrea. It’s unknown if the king was involved or not, but the army started clashing with protesters, leading to multiple injuries. It’s believed that this contributed greatly to the Banana Uprising which occurred the next day.

Banana Uprising

On 27 October 2020, Prince Gregor of Marxtown and 2 of his supporters attempted a coup, now known as the Banana Uprising, as the king was hit by a banana during the fighting. During the uprising, the army was divided on whether to join in the war or not, so only the King, the Prime Minister and 4 soldiers defended the country. The rest of the army met with the General to discuss whether to help the rebels or not. They decided to stay neutral as the violence in the capital city of Corneria raged on.

The uprising intensified when Prince Gregor took the Red Colosseum and the Palace of Corneria, this is the infamous part of the battle when Prince Gregor threw a banana at the king. During this battle, the army who were helping the King to regain power began to get even more divided, with some of them already knowing that, even if the Banana Uprising was won, the country wouldn’t last for much longer Inside the Palace of Corneria, Prince Gregor was declared as King Gregor I, but his reign over the nation did not last long before the palace was stormed by the army, and King Zachary I was restored as monarch. King Zachary, in the immediate aftermath of the battle, took the banana which Prince Gregor had thrown at him, and shoved it down his throat. Other rebels were also injured by the secret police and the army shortly after.

Post-Banana Uprising and Cutlerygate

The Banana Uprising had failed, but it had left the country divided, major government figures such as the Prime Minister and the General began to lose support for the country. Tensions were high following the uprising, and it would only take one thing to push it over the edge. On 29 October 2020, the Prime Minister was selling plastic cutlery just outside of Corneria, in the Province of Donkrea. In the Sprinske Communist Republic, it was illegal to own a private business, and according to the government, selling anything would count as owning a private business. This became known as the Cutlerygate Scandal, and the king ordered that the Prime Minister be arrested, but the Prime Minister instead rallied his supporters and marched towards the capital, Corneria.

The Sprinske Revolution

In the capital, Prime Minister Aaron Ross resigned, then Sir Blake Smith replaced him as Prime Minister. Aaron and his supporters began clashing with the military and declared that the revolution had begun.

The fighting began with the Battle of Marxtown, the King’s army fought hard to defend this town, as it was one of the main cities (Corneria, Marxtown and New Riga City). Fighting lasted for 30 minutes until the rebels flanked the army, forcing them to retreat to prevent encirclement. As the rebels approached New Riga City, the morale of the soldiers began to wear off, and some defected to the rebellion.

On 30 October 2020, the rebels arrived at New Riga, and met the SCR’s army just outside of the city, between New Riga and Corneria. The Battle of New Riga started, and the SCR had a major advantage in numbers. The battle was short, but violent, and by the end, some of the rebels began to leave, and the SCR won the battle.

Negotiations began shortly after the battle. King Zachary, the former Prime Minister (Now the Rebel Leader) and the General began talking about a peaceful resolution to the conflict, but they were unsuccessful, and the war raged on. Half an hour later, the rebels had regrouped in the occupied city of Marxtown, where they prepared to go into the capital. It was decided that Napoleonic strategies would be used to defeat the army.

The rebels launched a full-frontal assault on Corneria, but the Rebel leader told them that the Red Colosseum was to be left alone, and that the palace was the real target. Outside of the palace, the army had set up a huge defence force that outnumbered the rebels 2-1, but the rebel leader had a strategy that would work. He knew that barging through and taking the palace was a terrible idea, as it would lead to a stalemate at best and a cutdown at worst, just like the Banana uprising. Instead, they would slam into the army at full speed to break their lines into two separate pieces, and by cutting both sides off from one another, they could break their communication. This strategy worked very well, and the other section of the army didn’t know what was going on. This strategy had been used by Napoleon Bonaparte multiple times, so the Rebel Leader thought that it would work for him and his army too. They took both sides of the army on separately, and as the army’s communication had been snapped, they could do nothing to stop it. The rebels won the Battle of Corneria, and quickly began to occupy the entire city.

After the Battle of Corneria, the Sprinske Communist Republic’s army became very disorganised, with the Prime Minister Sir Blake Smurf planning his own coup, and nobody else even knew that it was happening, not even the rebels. When the rebels finally took New Riga, they found a different king in control of the nation, Sir Blake Smurf had ousted King Zachary I and had himself crowned as King Blake I. He then immediately surrendered to the rebel leader, ending the Sprinske Revolution with a rebel victory.

Treaty of Spritsnasque

The rebels had declared the city of Spritsnasque as their capital city, and held negotiations in that city. The Sprinske Communist Republic was to be dissolved, and two independent states would come out of it: the Sprinske Empire and the Imperial Republic of Donkrea. Donkrea was one of the main sections of Sprinske Communist Republic, and was a state at first. It held the city of New Riga and most of the countryside area. New Riga would become the capital city of the Imperial Republic of Donkrea, which itself would be a satellite state of the Sprinske Empire, which was the new major power. The Sprinske Empire and Donkrea would take over all of the SCR’s land, except for one province in South Kolniari, which would remain to the former King Zachary and Prince Gregor.

Dissolution

On 30 October 2020, following the signing of the Treaty of Spritsnasque, the Sprinske Empire officially declared independence from the Sprinske Communist Republic. It’s still unknown when exactly the Sprinske Communist Republic officially ended, some claim that the signing of the treaty was the official dissolution, but the Sprinske Empire wasn’t founded for a few hours as they had to write a Declaration of Independence, and even when it did come into existence, the Imperial Republic of Donkrea wasn’t founded until the next day, meaning that some parts of the Sprinske Communist Republic did spill over onto 31 October 2020 when the Prime Minister of Donkrea was appointed by Emperor Aaron I. Due to the inconsistency with dates of the nation’s dissolution, some still claim that the nation still existed until the dissolution of the People’s Democratic Republic of Sprinske in October 2022, whereas others claim it still exists in the form of the Union of the Free, but this is usually disputed as the said nation is Stewartist instead of communist. The Sprinske Empire’s official stance is that the Sprinske Communist Republic dissolved on 31 October 2020 when the Imperial Republic of Donkrea was declared, which means that both the Sprinske Empire and Sprinske Communist Republic coexisted for a day.

Politics and Government

The Sprinske Communist Republic was a hybrid of communism and monarchy. It was an odd combination, but it worked surprisingly well for the country. The King was head of state, and held most of the power. He could pass any law without anyone’s consent and could appoint (and fire) any official.

Despite the King’s power, the Prime Minister was also very powerful. He could declare war, pass any law (if the king agreed), and would lead the country in the King’s absence. Over the course of the nation’s history, there were 2 Prime Ministers, with the first one becoming Emperor Aaron I of the Sprinske Empire.

The General was the third most powerful role in the country, having control over the armed forces. Despite being part of the rebellion, he never actually left the job, and was technically leader of the Armed Forces during the Sprinske Revolution.

Prince Gregor was the heir to the throne, but he held no real power. Prince Gregor could not pass a law or declare war, he wouldn’t even run the nation if the king was ill, as the PM would do that. Overall, he was only a backup, and would probably never have been king even if the Banana Uprising or Sprinske Revolution never happened.

Foreign relations

The Sprinske Communist Republic was an isolationist state, and didn’t reach out to other micronations during it’s existence. No other micronations were even aware of it’s existence until 2 years had passed since it was dissolved, until the Sprinske Empire released articles about it.

Military

The military of the SCR was a huge deal, especially as the country had no police force, and used the army to enforce law. Eagle Aircraft Corporation was founded in what is now known as Rio De Sprinske, and produced fighter aircraft such as the C-102, C-101 and C-99 during the time that the SCR ruled the lands.
