The Republic of Pekatan, more commonly known as Pekatan, is a micronation in the Kolniari Sector, it was founded on 7 November 2022 after being offered some land from the Catanese Republic, and was officially founded later that day. The nation is the smallest in the Kolniari Sector in terms of land, but it is also densely populated for its size, with a population between 5 and 12 which puts it ahead of Seitnam in terms of population.

History

The nation was founded on 7 November 2022 after searching for some land in the Kolniari Sector for about a week. The Sprinske Empire had previously sold land to Seitnam, but with their land shrinking, they refused to sell any more land. The nation’s leader, Olivier, then began searching for some land from the Union of the Free, but they also refused to sell land. Eventually, the Mafia Republic agreed to give the new nation some land. The nation was officially founded later that day, and the Kolniaric Union officially recognised its independence after it created its national symbols. The nation came into existence at a time where the Kolniari Sector was rapidly expanding its number of micronations, and the nation is part of the ‘third generation’ Kolniari nations.

Pekatan War

On 3 February 2023, a gang of 4-5 youths ageing from 12-14, known as ‘The Radicals’ by the governments of the Kolniaric nations to avoid the derogatory termneds entered Pekatan at around 13:20. The Kaiser of Sprinske had earlier been talking to one of them who had helped him during the Sprinske Revolution. At first, the group wanted to be chased, but Kaiser Aaron I explained to his friend, who was part of the group, that he was helping the Mafia Republic’s President to transport a large piece of metal to a secret armoury in Libidine. Soon however, the entirety of the group had found out despite Kaiser Aaron I only telling one of them, and also included that he shouldn’t tell anyone about it as it was a classified zone similar to how Area 51 is off limits in the United States. The group followed him to Pekatan, despite being told that they weren’t allowed to come, but they all wanted to see the armoury. The Kaiser of Sprinske, Master of Pekatan and President of the Mafia Republic who guarded the border along with two soldiers refused to let them enter, which escalated into small scale skirmishes, which caused most of the gang to leave. The one who Aaron I was talking to earlier insisted on seeing the armoury, and the leaders of the countries reluctantly agreed to let him see the armoury because he was trusted by Aaron I and had fought in the Sprinske Revolution, but after seeing the armoury and heading back towards the border, he told the leaders of the nations that he was going to tell everyone about it, then attempted to run away but was knocked when one of the soldiers threw an unfinished shillelagh at his legs and knocked him down. When he stood back up, he praised the ‘immaculate’ throw of the shillelagh and said that he was only joking.

Kaiser Aaron I became ill later that day and left the scene to return to Rio De Sprinskè, but shortly after he left, ‘The Radicals’ returned to Pekatan, this time numbering about 5 or 6, and were numerically greater than the Pekantish force, numbering around 2 or 3.(numbers differ depending on the source as many rumours have been made about the war in Pekatan including the supposed involvement of Zachary Stewart, but this has not been proven). ‘The Radicals’ split up and began attacking different parts of Pekatan, some of them went to Libidine armoury and stole a large amount of the weapons being kept there, breaking a lot of them. Others targeted the shrine and other buildings in western Pekatan, and these actions have led to the group being classified as a terrorist organisation by some Kolniaric nations as attacking religious buildings and places of worship, such as the Pekantish Shrine, are considered war crimes under the Geneva convention. The other buildings targeted included a tower designed to collect water, which was destroyed in the attack, and a civilian sitting area which was also destroyed, with pieces of it being thrown into the Mafia Republic and Sprinske Republic. The Pekantish Shrine was an important building and therefore the priority of Pekatan’s outnumbered force, but it was ultimately destroyed by the Radicals. Members of the group who had destroyed the armoury in Libidine also attacked a tourist attraction known as ‘the Turret’ which is just used to decorate the country and make it seem more interested. The Turret survived the attack, but was moved out of place. In the end, despite the best efforts of Pekatan’s force, they were ultimately defeated by the Radicals and the majority of Pekatan’s important buildings and locations had been destroyed. The Turret and the border sign were the only things that survived the battle, the majority of Libidine along with everything in western Pekatan was destroyed.

On 16 February 2023, after recovering from his illness, the Kaiser of Sprinske returned and went into Pekatan with a small army to retake it for the Pekantish government, and put The Turret back in its original place. They also tried to reconstruct the Pekantish Shrine, but were ultimately unsuccessful. Later, the Mafia Republic’s President helped to relocate the shrine to the Kolniari Free State, which soon became another target for the Radicals.

Politics and government

The nation is effectively a dictatorship ran by the Master of the nation, who has total control over the nation and all of its lands. As the nation is very new, more information will become available about its system of government in the days to come

Culture

The nation is themed on hell, despite not being officially a satanist country, the theme was made to attract people to the nation and to make it more interesting than other nations in the sector as it hopes to attract tourists to the nation, despite this, the hell theme only exists in government as the nation’s land area is just green hills and a view of the Mafia Republic.

Pekatan has Two names with Pekatan being the formal version and Hellion being more casual for more natural use. It’s cities are named after the seven cardinal sins in Latin to not be directly named after them.

Religion

Pekatan developed its own religion, centred around a dog toy named ‘Soseje’ and multiple bottles of alcohol. According to Pekantish mythology, Soseje saved Pekatan from being destroyed by a Rottweiler by sacrificing himself to stop the dog, or at least partly, as he survived the attack and landed in western Pekatan near the Mafia Republic’s border. Pekatan then built a shrine dedicated to Soseje, surrounded by half-empty bottles of Buckfast which would supposedly regenerate his power. Buckfast and other alcoholic beverages are a central part of Pekantish religion and are often used to build shrines, such as the most well known one which was just west of Libidine.
