The Order of the Queenslandian Merit is a National independence order of merit recognising distinguished service in the armed forces, science, art, literature, or for the promotion of culture. Established in 2019 by King George III, admission into the order remains the personal gift of its Sovereign currently and is restricted to a maximum of 24 living recipients from the National independence union , plus a limited number of honorary members. While all members are awarded the right to use the post-nominal letters OQM and wear the badge of the order,the Order of Queenslandian Merit's precedence among other honours differs between countries.
Regulations for the giving of decorations
The Order of the Queenslandian Merit is the highest class insignia of the Kingdom of Queensland. The Bureau of the Royal Household has set a plan for delivering the Order of the Queenslandian Merit as follows:
- 1. The recipient of the Order of the Queenslandian Merit must be a Members appointed by the Sovereign.
- 2. Order of the Queenslandian Merit recipients must be 10 years or older.
- 3. The decorations are set for the following:
- 3.1 Diplomatic benefactor
- 3.2 Education beneficiary
- 3.3 People with ideas in various areas of science
- 3.4 Art beneficiary
