The Imperial Chancellor of New Europe, often referred to as the Reichskanzeler, was the highest political office in the Empire of New Europe. The Imperial Chancellor was an office that was assumed by a direct election for the individual campaigning for the office. The Chancellor could serve three total terms in office, each lasting four months. Early in the office's existence the Chancellor was apointed by the Emperor.
Once in office the chancellor then appointed his cabinet and from the conclusion of the election onward the new chancellor and his cabinet took over for the previous one. The office of the Imperial Chancellor under went a reorganization in the re-established New Europe in 2011. The powers of the chancellor were cut in half and given to the Imperial Assembly and made him responcible to the legislature instead of the Emperor.
